CI/CD for Modern Applications

Speaker:

Level: 300

This talk will cover how developers can build effective CI/CD release workflows for both serverless and containerised applications. We will include a demonstration of how this can be achieved for a modern serverless application, built on AWS Lambda and AWS API Gateway.

Add intelligence to Applications with ML services

Speaker: Steven Bryen

Level: 200

In this session we will introduce the API accesible, pre-trained machine learning services available from AWS. We will demonstrate how Developers can easily integrate these AI services into your applications to provide better customer experiences, with no machine learning experience required.

Integrating Cloud Development, Security, and Operations

Speaker:

 Level: 300

In this session we will look at how you can leverage AWS services to implement modularity, resliability and security into continuous delivery pipelnes (AKA "DevSecOps"). Learn how to automate application delivery using AWS Cloudformation and other tools from AWS.

Integrate your front end apps with serverless backend in the cloud

Speaker: Sebastian Stormacq

Level: 200

In this session, you will learn how to deploy cloud based services for your web and mobile applications without requiring you to be a cloud expert. We will demonstrate how you can easily integrate authentication, deploy an API layer and publish your web app without using a single server, and minimal code.

Solve complex business problems with Amazon Personalize and Forecast

Speaker: Julien Simon

Level: 300

In the session we will show you how to use Amazon Personalize and Amazon Forecast, two new services that let you create individualized reccomendations for customers, and deliver highy accureate forecasts. Both run on fully-managed infrastructure and provide easy to use recipes that deliver high-quality results even if you have little Machine Learning experience.

Building real-time backends for your applications

Speaker:

Level: 300

With AWS you can easily host scalable applications and make them globally available in minutes. In this presenation and demo, we will dig into how we can get more insights from your web application logs demonstrating the use of CloudFront, S3, Lambda and Amazon ElasticSearch for deep analysis.

AWS UserGroup Intro + Knowing Cognito: Getting your feet wet with user pools & identity pools

Speaker: Nils de Moor + Ben Bridts

Amazon Cognito has both user pools and identity pools. Both solve two different problems and can be used separately or together. In this talk, we provides an overview of pools and what you should be aware of when looking at the documentation. Learn when you need one or the other, how you can use them together, and how they integrate with other AWS services. This session will be combined with a short introduction of what the AWS UserGroup is and how you join us.

VMWare: How to bring the old tot the new?

Speaker: Gilles Chekroun + Eric De Witte

Cloud is a great enabler to build new software and eases diving into data analytics. But sometimes you need to connect to existing environments in your datacenter that are not directly candidate for refactoring and of course data gravity can be a bitch. Let’s see how VMware and AWS can help run your existing environments closer to your new developments and ease further evolution of your business initiatives.

Trend Micro: Did you forget Security for your Containers, Devops?

Speaker: Stefaan Van Hoornick

Security in a fast pace cloud world is essential for your business. Every day, we hear in the news about businesses that have been compromised. In the past we had the proliferation of VMs in the datacenter and the security challenges it faced. With the Public Cloud and the shared responsibility model, it’s key that we stay focused and that we embrace these evolutions in a secure way. The next big thing is the containerization of services and the use of microservices. During this session you will learn about the challenges that these new technologies face from a security point of view.

2:00 - 3:00

Breaking the Monolith: road to containerizing your app

Speaker:

Level: 300

In this session we will dive into the 12 factor application design and demonstrate how this applies to breaking down a real-world application into containerised services. We will demonstrate how to use AWS services such as Fargate and Amazon ECS to achieve this.

Build, train, and deploy ML models at scale

Speaker: Julien Simon

Level: 300

Amazon SageMaker is a fully-managed platform that lets developers and data scientists build and scale machine learning solutions. First, we'll show you how SageMaker Ground Truth helps you label large training datasets. Then, using Jupyter notebooks, we'll show you how to build, train and deploy models using built-in algorithms and frameworks (TensorFlow, Apache MXNet, etc). Finally, we'll show you how to use 3rd-party models from the AWS marketplace.

Resiliency and Availability Design Patterns for the Cloud

Speaker: Steven Bryen

Level: 300

In this session you will discover how your mobile and web applications can leverage data driven APIs and cloud backends. We will show how to use advanced features such as notifications and support for offline devices. We will include live demos on how to build a cloud based serverless solution using GraphQL.

Observability for Modern Applications

Speaker:

Level: 300

During this session we will demonstrate how to use AWS Services to gain visibility understand how your application and its underlying services are operating. We will demonstate how AWS CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray and AWS App Mesh to provide end-to-end visibiulity of you application and help to ensure high-availability for your applications.

Scaling ML from 0 to millions of users

Speaker:

Level: 300

Data scientists and machine learning engineers use a variety of open source projects in their everyday tasks: scikit-learn, SparkML, TensorFlow, Apache MXNet, Pytorch, etc. They make it very easy to get started, but as models become more complex and datasets become larger, training time and prediction latency become a significant concern.
