Join Max Peterson as he discusses the accelerated innovation in the public sector, celebrates pioneers driving change, and provides an outlook on the opportunities ahead. Max will highlight how the cloud is helping our customers pave new paths and deliver mission-critical outcomes that are making the world a better and safer place while enabling them to move faster, improve security, and keep costs low.

Iain Rouse will kick off the keynote with highlights from Australia and New Zealand, and provide updates on how AWS is continuing to invest in this region. He will also highlight some of the activities and sessions to get involved in throughout the day. Get inspired and ready to build.  

Dr. Zoran Bolevich

Chief Executive of eHealth NSW and the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for NSW Health

Zoran represents NSW Health on the Board of the Australian Digital Health Agency and on the NSW Government’s ICT Leadership Group and is a board member of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.

He is well-recognised in the healthcare sector and ICT industry for driving innovation and influencing rapid change across NSW Health. In 2019 he was ranked fifth by the CIO Australia CIO50 as one of Australia’s top 50 technology and digital chiefs.

Previous roles include the NSW Ministry of Health’s Director of Demand and Performance Evaluation, and Executive Director, Health System Information and Performance Reporting. Zoran also oversaw the national health information strategy and architecture for New Zealand’s Ministry of Health. As well as a Doctor of Medicine, Zoran holds a Master of Business Administration and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators and Executive Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG). 

Teresa Dickinson

Deputy Australian Statistician, Census and Data Services Group, Australian Bureau of Statistics

Teresa Dickinson is the Deputy Australian Statistician leading the Census and Data Services Group. The Census and Data Services Group is responsible for collecting the data the ABS uses in its work and disseminating the official statistics, data and insights it produces to inform Australia's important decisions.
 
Teresa joined the ABS in April 2018 after four years as a Deputy Government Statistician and Deputy Chief Executive at Statistics New Zealand. At Stats NZ she held a variety of roles, including leading their transformation program, providing statistical infrastructure and – most recently - leading data collection and production of official statistics and insights across economic, social and environmental statistics. This included responsibility for leading their 2018 Census, which was undertaken in March.
 
During a career spanning 30 years, Teresa has worked in a wide range of statistical and data roles in the public sector including Commonwealth Government (AIHW and ABS previously), Victorian State Government and scientific research (CSIRO). She has over 15 years’ experience at senior executive levels. Teresa holds Master of Statistics and a Master of Business Administration degrees. She is a University Medallist and Accredited Statistician with the Statistical Society of Australia.

Breakout sessions
DURATION: 40 MINUTES
Lecture-style presentations covering all topics at all levels and delivered by AWS experts, builders, customers, and partners. Breakout sessions typically include a Q&A at the end.
Chalk talks
DURATION: 50 MINUTES
Highly interactive sessions with a small audience. Experts lead you through problems and solutions on a digital whiteboard as the discussion unfolds.
AWS DeepRacer workshops
DURATION: 120 MINUTES
Hands-on learning session where you will get started with reinforcement learning (RL), a machine learning (ML) technique through AWS DeepRacer. You'll need an AWS account, and we'll provide AWS Promotional Credit to all attendees. Come prepared with your laptop and willingness to learn.

Foundational

Sessions focus on providing an overview of AWS services and features, with the assumption that attendees are new to the topic.

Intermediate

Sessions focus on providing best practices, details of service features, and demos with the assumption that attendees have introductory knowledge of the topics.

L E V E L   3 0 0

Advanced

Sessions dive deeper into the selected topic. Presenters assume that the audience has some familiarity with the topic but may or may not have direct experience implementing a similar solution.

L E V E L   4 0 0

Expert

Sessions are for attendees who are deeply familiar with the topic, have implemented a solution on their own already, and are comfortable with how the technology works across multiple services, architectures, and implementations.

Race for prizes, glory, and a chance to advance to the AWS DeepRacer Grand Finale to compete for the coveted Championship Cup.
