AWS Transfer Family now offers Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 compliant endpoints in US and Canada commercial AWS Regions to protect sensitive information. These endpoints terminate Transport Layer Security (TLS) sessions using a FIPS 140-2 compliant cryptographic software module, making it easier for you to use Transfer Family for regulated workloads.
AWS Transfer Family simplifies migration of file transfer workflows to AWS, without needing to modify end user credentials, scripts, network configurations, or manage servers. To use this new capability, select the FIPS endpoint option when creating your server and all requests over Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) and File Transfer Protocol over SSL (FTPS) will only use FIPS compliant encryption.
FIPS 140-2 compliant endpoints for AWS Transfer Family are available in US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (N. California), US West (Oregon), and Canada (ca-central-1) Regions. To learn more, visit the AWS Transfer Family product page and view the user guide on FIPS endpoints and policies. Access the AWS Transfer Family Console to get started.
