We are pleased to announce that AWS OpsWorks now supports Java applications. OpsWorks is an application management service that lets you provision resources, deploy and update software, automate common tasks, monitor the state of your environment, and control who can manage your instances. With this release, OpsWorks also includes Java in addition to existing support for Ruby, PHP and Node.js. The new OpsWorks Java layer automatically configures Amazon EC2 instances with Apache Tomcat using sensible defaults in order to run your Java application. You can customize or extend the Java layer. For example, you can choose a different Tomcat version, change the heap size, or use a different JDK. You can also deploy multiple Java applications to your Java application servers; simply point to each application's archive and hit deploy.
To learn more about the AWS OpsWorks Java layer, see the AWS OpsWorks Developer Guide. Or to get started now, go to the OpsWorks console and create a stack.
