Announcing New Features in the Amazon EC2 Console

Posted on: Nov 12, 2013

We’re excited to announce a number of new features and improvements to the Amazon EC2 Management Console.

Discover and Launch AWS Marketplace Software in the EC2 Console

Starting today, you can search, browse and launch more than 800 popular Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) listed in the AWS Marketplace directly from the EC2 Console. AWS Marketplace is an online store that allows you to find and launch commercial and free-tier-eligible software on Amazon EC2 instances. To get started, log in to the Amazon EC2 Console, click on the Launch Instances button and choose the AWS Marketplace tab. Click here to learn more about the AWS Marketplace.

Updates to the Launch Instance Wizard

The EC2 Console’s Launch Instance Wizard has also been updated to include a number of new features and improvements to make it easier for you to launch EC2 instances.

  • Searching for public and private AMIs is faster.
  • Selecting the right instance type for your workload is easier.
  • Copy an existing security group to a new one with just one click.
  • Choosing a snapshot is one search away.
  • Tagging instances now supports auto-complete.

A Refreshed Look and Feel

In the last month, we have updated several key pages on the EC2 Console with a refreshed user interface that makes it easier to use. Over the next few weeks, we will be completing the transition with the remaining EC2 Console pages.
