Amazon EC2 expands regional availability for C3 and G2 instance types

Posted on: May 21, 2014

Amazon EC2 G2 instances are now available in the Asia Pacific (Singapore), and Asia Pacific (Sydney) AWS Regions. Amazon EC2 C3 instances are now available in the South America (Sao Paulo) AWS Region.

G2 instances are intended for graphics and general purpose GPU compute applications. G2 instances feature a high-performance NVIDIA GPU with 1,536 CUDA cores and 4GB of video memory, making them ideally suited for video creation services, 3D visualizations, streaming graphics-intensive applications, and other server-side workloads requiring massive parallel processing power. G2 instances are available in one size – g2.2xlarge.

C3 instances are ideal for applications that benefit from a higher amount of compute capacity relative to memory, and are recommended for high performance web servers, and other scale-out compute-intensive applications. C3 instances are available in five sizes – c3.large, c3.xlarge, c3.2xlarge, c3.4xlarge, c3.8xlarge.

You can purchase G2 and C3 instances as On-Demand Instances, Reserved Instances, or as Spot Instances. To learn more about G2 and C3 instances, please visit the Amazon EC2 Instance Types page.
