Windows Server 2012 R2 AMIs are now available in 19 languages, including built-in support for enhanced networking via SR-IOV on R3, C3 and I2 instances. You can also import your existing Windows Server 2012 R2 VMs to AWS using VM Import.
In addition, new Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Standard, Web and Express Edition AMI’s running on Windows Server 2012 R2 are available in localized versions for English, Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese. Also, a Server Core for Windows Server 2012 R2 AMI is now available reducing the servicing and management requirements as only components required for a manageable DHCP, File, DNS, Media Services, and Active Directory server can be installed.
The AMIs are available from the AWS Marketplace as well as in the EC2 console. Administrators using PowerShell can query for the latest Windows Server 2012 R2 AMIs by using Get-EC2ImageByName -Names Windows_Server-2012-R2_RTM-English-64Bit-Base-*
