SQL Server 2017 is now available for Amazon EC2 instances running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.4 as an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) from the AWS Marketplace. With this release, you can now launch RHEL instances on-demand using SQL Server 2017 Enterprise License Included AMIs without having to bring your own license. SQL Server 2017 on RHEL 7.4 AMI is available in all public AWS regions starting today.

SQL Server 2017 is the latest release of SQL Server and offers capabilities such as container support, graph databases, automatic database tuning, as well as R and Python analytics. AWS already offers SQL Server 2017 in four editions – SQL Server Web Edition, SQL Server Express Edition, SQL Server Standard Edition, and SQL Server Enterprise Edition – using Amazon EC2 Windows Server 2016 License Included (LI) AMIs. With today’s release, you now have the ability to leverage SQL Server 2017 on Linux platform without having to bring your own SQL license.
