You can now use a new capability for continuously aggregating data over time, stagger windows, in your Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics applications. Stagger windows enable you to emit timely and accurate SQL results in the face of late data.
Streaming data is processed seconds after the data is created, and network disruptions and latency can cause some events to have their processing delayed. When performing real-time analytics, data that arrives after an initial result is generated is called late data. Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics can be configured to produce a delta or an update to the initial result if data arrives late. The new stagger windows capability allows you to control whether you want more timely results with more updates or less timely results with fewer to no updates, giving you the flexibility to choose what is best for your use case.
You can learn more about stagger windows in the Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics Developer Guide.
Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics is available in the US (Northern Virginia), US (Oregon), EU (Ireland), and EU (Frankfurt) AWS regions.
