AWS IoT Device Defender Adds Support for Two New Security Metrics

AWS IoT Device Defender helps you keep connected devices secure. AWS IoT Device Defender alerts you whenever devices violate a user-defined behavior for security metrics gathered from devices and AWS IoT Core.

AWS IoT Device Defender now supports two additional cloud-side metrics, number of connection attempts and number of disconnects. These metrics can help identify fake device connections and stolen credentials. You can monitor the new metrics quickly by defining the settings for the expected thresholds using the AWS management console or API. To monitor your device-side metrics, AWS IoT now provides a sample implementation in C on GitHub. You can use this as a reference implementation for device metrics you wish to report to AWS IoT Device Defender and how often.
