Amazon DynamoDB Accelerator (DAX) now supports next-generation, burstable general-purpose Amazon EC2 T3 instance types, which provide a baseline level of CPU performance with the ability to burst CPU usage however long is required.
T3 instance types offer a balance of compute, memory, and network resources, and are ideal for workloads with moderate CPU usage that experience temporary spikes in use. T3 instance types are powered by the AWS Nitro System, which includes a lightweight hardware-accelerated hypervisor and delivers to instances practically all the compute and memory resources of the host hardware. T3 instance types are configured for unlimited mode, so they can burst beyond the baseline over a 24-hour window for an additional charge.
DAX supports t3.small and t3.medium instance types, which are available in the following AWS Regions: US East (N. Virginia and Ohio), US West (N. California and Oregon), Asia Pacific (Mumbai, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London, and Paris), and South America (Sao Paulo).
