Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) Data API now offers Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 validated endpoints. FIPS 140-2 is a U.S. and Canadian government standard that specifies the security requirements for cryptographic modules that protect sensitive information. If you require use of FIPS 140-2 validated cryptographic modules, you can now do so with RDS Data API.
FIPS 140-2 validated endpoints for Data API are available for both the CLI and API calls. To learn more about FIPS endpoints and supported regions see the FIPS endpoints page.
RDS Data API provides an HTTPS API endpoint for your applications to issue SQL commands to your Aurora Serverless v1 database and minimizes the overhead of driver integration and connection management in your application. Data API also uses credentials stored in AWS Secrets Manager to authenticate with your database, eliminating the need to store credentials in your applications. To learn more about RDS Data API read the documentation.
