Today, Amazon Elastic Container Registry (Amazon ECR) launched the support for AWS PrivateLink in the Asia Pacific (Osaka) Region. Now you can access Amazon ECR API from your Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) in Osaka region without using public IPs and without requiring the traffic to  traverse across the internet.

AWS PrivateLink is a networking technology designed to enable access to AWS services in a highly available and scalable manner, while keeping the network traffic within the AWS network. When you create an AWS PrivateLink endpoint for Amazon ECR in the Osaka Region, the service endpoints appear as elastic network interfaces with a private IP address in your Amazon VPC. Using the AWS PrivateLink endpoint, workloads are able to send traffic from ECR APIs in and out of the Osaka region without exposing it to the public internet.
