AWS Backup adds support for VMware vSphere tags, enabling you to protect your VMware virtual machines (VMs) using tag-based policies, simplifying data protection across your on-premises vSphere and AWS environments. This allows you to import your VMware vSphere tags to AWS, where they can be automatically associated with a backup plan via tag-based policies.
AWS Backup support for VMware vSphere tags is a simple and automatic way for you to associate your VM resources to AWS Backup plans, extending your tag-based backup policies to VMs. AWS Backup provides VMware data protection experience that is consistent across your on-premises environments and AWS Regions, helping you meet your business and regulatory compliance needs. You can use a single policy in AWS Backup to simplify data protection and automate lifecycle management of your on-premises VMware, VMware CloudTM on AWS, and VMware CloudTM on AWS Outposts environments alongside other AWS services supported by AWS Backup spanning compute, storage, and databases.
