Amazon Aurora now supports disaster recovery capabilities of Global Database and Cross-Region database cluster snapshot copying in Asia Pacific (Melbourne) region.
Amazon Aurora Global Database is a single database that can span up to six AWS Regions, enabling disaster recovery from region-wide outages and low latency global reads. Starting today, you can create an Aurora global database in the Asia Pacific (Melbourne) Region for replicating writes to other secondary AWS Regions with a typical latency of less than one second, enabling both fast failover with minimal data loss and low latency global reads. Aurora Global Database is available for both the MySQL-compatible and PostgreSQL-compatible editions of Aurora. With this release, cross-region copying of a DB cluster snapshots created either automatically or manually is now also available in Asia Pacific (Melbourne) for your data retention, compliance, and/or disaster recovery needs. For more information see Copying a DB cluster snapshot.
