The Amazon Chime SDK lets developers add real-time audio, video, and screen share to their web and mobile applications. Now, the Amazon Chime SDK provides loss recovery for up to 100ms of audio, which helps enable smooth playback of audio transmitted across networks with random and burst packet loss.
Packet loss typically occurs when networks are congested and routers drop packets, but loss can also occur when the wireless signal is weak. If packets are lost and their information cannot be recovered, audio sounds “choppy” or “broken” and becomes unintelligible. The Amazon Chime SDK can now recover information from up to 5 consecutive lost packets and provide intelligible audio playback with minimal impact on bandwidth, CPU, and playback latency.
Improved audio playback requires the latest client library for JavaScript, React, Android or iOS and works with Amazon Chime SDK in all available meeting Regions.
