New minor versions of Microsoft SQL Server are now available on Amazon RDS for SQL Server, offering performance and security fixes. Amazon RDS for SQL Server supports the new minor versions for SQL Server 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019 on the Express, Web, Standard, and Enterprise Editions.
We encourage you to upgrade your Amazon RDS for SQL Server database instances at your convenience. You can upgrade with just a few clicks in the Amazon RDS Management Console or using the AWS CLI. Learn more about upgrading your database instances from the Amazon RDS User Guide. The new minor versions are:
- SQL Server 2014 SP3 CU4 GDR - 12.0.6449.1
- SQL Server 2016 SP3 GDR - 13.0.6435.1
- SQL Server 2017 CU31 GDR - 14.0.3465.1
- SQL Server 2019 CU23 - 15.0.4335.1
These minor versions are available in all AWS commercial Regions where Amazon RDS for SQL Server databases are available, including the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions.
