Customers can now use Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager to automate the creation and retention of application-consistent EBS Snapshots for SAP HANA databases. In addition to backing up data using AWS Backint Agent for SAP HANA, customers can now back up their SAP HANA databases as storage snapshots that can be easily and quickly copied into different AWS Regions and accounts for Disaster Recovery purposes.
Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager provides customers with an automated solution to run custom scripts on their EC2 instances before and after snapshot creation. Customers can use the feature with the AWS Systems Manager Document for SAP HANA to create application-consistent EBS Snapshots for SAP HANA. Customers can also set their policies to enable Fast Snapshot Restore on the most recent set of snapshots, which will reduce the time it takes to hydrate their EBS volume, leading to faster recovery of the SAP HANA database.
This feature is now available in all AWS Regions where AWS Systems Manager for SAP is available. There is no cost associated with creating and managing Data Lifecycle Manager policies. Customers pay for the storage cost associated with any EBS Snapshots that are created as well as if Fast Snapshot Restore is enabled.
This feature is now available through AWS Management Console, AWS CloudFormation, AWS SDKs, AWS Tools for Powershell, or the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI). To learn more, refer to our documentation.
