AWS Transfer Family now enables conditional workflows by publishing events to Amazon EventBridge for all successful and failed inbound and outbound Applicability Statement 2 (AS2) transfer operations. These events can be used to easily automate processing of your AS2 messages and message disposition notifications (MDN), or to send real-time status notifications to you and your trading partners.

With AS2 events now available in Amazon EventBridge, you can create Amazon EventBridge rules that match these events and trigger operations in over 25 AWS services including AWS B2B Data Interchange, AWS StepFunctions, AWS Lambda, and Amazon SNS. For example, you can create an Amazon EventBridge rule that triggers AWS B2B Data Interchange’s transformation capabilities to convert the X12 EDI contents of your inbound AS2 messages into common data representations such as JSON or XML. You can also create rules that send automated SNS email notifications to your trading partners anytime incoming AS2 messages fail to process. Similarly, you can create rules matching outbound AS2 transfer events to trigger actions such as archiving AS2 messages or deleting MDNs once they’ve been successfully sent to your trading partners. In addition to AS2, AWS Transfer Family publishes Amazon EventBridge events for all successful and failed SFTP, FTPS, and FTP server and connector operations.

AWS Transfer Family support for publishing events in Amazon EventBridge is available in all AWS Regions where the service is available. To learn more about building event-driven architectures with AWS Transfer Family and Amazon EventBridge, visit the AS2 documentation or self-paced workshop
