AWS GameDay is a gamified learning event that challenges participants to use AWS solutions to solve real-world technical problems in a team-based setting. Unlike traditional workshops, GameDays are open-ended and non-prescriptive, giving participants the freedom to explore, and think outside the box.

Participate in fun and interactive GameDays to learn, solve and win with your team for a chance to win prizes. Come as a team (up to 4 people) or solo and we will pair you up with a team.

Amazon Bedrock: Building with Generative AI

Journey into the vast expanse of Amazon Bedrock, the easiest way to build and scale generative AI applications with foundation models. This immersive GameDay offers participants a dynamic sandbox to harness Bedrock's potential, by building applications using various foundation models. As participants navigate a tapestry of challenges and narratives, they'll witness firsthand the transformative power of large language models. Join us to explore, experiment, and push the boundaries of what's possible with Amazon Bedrock.

Network Topology Titans

The Network Topology Titans GameDay is a team-based challenge that invites participants to showcase and learn new AWS networking skills in an exciting competition. Join us to support Unicorn.Rentals, the largest Legendary Animal Rental Market on Earth. Teams compete to architect and build a secure landing zone. AWS services featured include Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Amazon VPC IP Address Manager (IPAM), AWS Transit Gateway, AWS Network Firewall, and AWS PrivateLink. This session also features a quest from Lacework about protecting your AWS environment.

The Frugality Fest

The Unicorn.Rentals saga continues with the exciting addition of the Frugality Fest GameDay! In a race against time, you will compete against other teams to reduce the operating costs of the Unicorn.Rentals app while keeping up with rapidly growing demand. Address a wide variety of cost optimization challenges related to compute, networking, storage and observability. Join us on this collaborative and fun challenge to accelerate your AWS learning journey! This session also features a quest from Red Hat about application automation with Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS.

Building F.O.C.U.S. - First and Only Cloudy Unicorn Socialnet

(Laptops are required)

Have you ever built a full social media platform in just a few hours? Our unicorns have been asking for a community app for a long time, and we need you to deliver it! Join us in building F.O.C.U.S., the first and only "Unicorn Socialnet", a cloud-based, serverless micro-frontend on AWS Amplify. This platform boasts features spanning social networking, content moderation, location tracking, and even image generation through generative AI. This session also features a quest from Datadog about detecting and mitigating security risks. A laptop is required; basic coding skills will also be helpful to hit the ground running.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • AWS GameDay events are hands-on learning opportunities recommended for system administrators, solutions architects, technical account managers, developers and other technical roles of all skill levels. You will use the AWS Management Console extensively, as well as live AWS services to apply your technical knowledge to the challenges. AWS GameDay events cover a wide variety of cloud domains, so as long as you have some experience working on AWS, there will be lots of work for you to do!

  • AWS will provide all of the infrastructure and technology that you need in order to work through the different scenarios. You just need the following items:

    • Computer for hands-on participation
    • Firefox or Chrome browser
    • Microphone for voice chat and Camera for better interaction (highly encouraged)
    • SSH client pre-installed: Putty (Windows) or SSH (Mac)
    • AWS Command Line Tools (AWS CLI)
    • Remote Desktop Client (RDP)

  • No. We will provide AWS accounts for you to work in.

  • Team sizes range from 2-4 participants based on the specific GameDay. If you don't have a team, don't worry. Simply join us, and we'll ensure you're paired with a team

  • There is no need to prepare, so don’t worry! Each team will have a different approach, which will have its own benefits. If you would like to brush up on some of your skills, expect to use the following, among others: Amazon API Gateway, Amazon Athena, AWS CloudFormation, Amazon CloudFront, Amazon EC2, Amazon ECS, AWS Lambda, Amazon RDS, Amazon Rekognition, and Amazon Route 53.

  • Space is limited for teams. Online pre-registration will be open until all spots are taken, starting this October. We've set aside a few seats for walk-ins on the event day, but these are on a first-come, first-served basis. There's no guarantee of securing a spot, so we recommend reserving early during the pre-registration period.

  • The major benefit is the chance to take part and immerse yourself in a risk-free environment where youcan explore, learn, and experiment with AWS and its partner services. With hands-on access to AWStools and guidance from our seasoned experts, you not only gain invaluable experience but also stand achance to win exciting prizes.
