Matt Lewis, Chief AWS Architect at IBM UK

 Swansea, United Kingdom

 Hero since 2019

Matt Lewis is Chief AWS Architect at IBM UK, where he is growing the AWS capability and community within one of the fastest growing AWS consulting partners globally. His responsibilities include building a strong alliance with AWS, and ensuring clients adopt best practices and standards to deliver the customer outcomes and business value they require. Previously he worked as Chief Architect within Central Government guiding solutions that operate against critical data sets, and migrating services from on-premises to take advantage of public cloud, as well as growing cloud talent to bring ownership of the cloud platform in house. Matt founded and runs the AWS South Wales user group and is part of the ServerlessDays Cardiff organising team.

Matt is a regular speaker at events including AWS re:Invent, AWS Summits, and the London Innovation Series, alongside various meet-ups. Matt has been actively exploring and presenting the benefits of moving from traditional databases to cloud native services. This includes presenting demos and use cases for purpose-built databases where appropriate, such as Quantum Ledger Database (QLDB), to support strong audit and data lineage requirements.

In his spare time, Matt writes about different aspects of public cloud on dev.to, his personal blog and Twitter, and spends too much time cycling online.
