With effect from 1 January 2017, Amazon Web Services, Inc. (“AWS”) is required to charge Russian Value Added Tax (“VAT”) on certain electronic services provided remotely to individual (non-business) customers located in Russia. The list of such services is established by article 174.2 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation.

AWS’s online pricing does not include applicable taxes, which means that VAT at 18% will be added to our charges for taxable services, unless you inform us that you are a business customer (see below).

All VAT collected from Russian customers will be paid to the Russian tax authorities. AWS is registered for Russian VAT as a non-resident taxpayer and is not required to issue tax invoices. For additional information on this simplified registration regime, please visit the Russian Tax Authorities’ website: http://lkio.gnivc.ru/en (English) or http://lkio.gnivc.ru/ru (Russian).

AWS is not required to charge VAT on services provided to Russian business customers. To determine whether a customer is a business, the Russian VAT legislation requires AWS to collect and validate your State Registration Number (“SRN”) or State Registration Number of Individual Entrepreneur (“SRNIE”). To confirm your business status, please enter your 13 digit SRN or 15 digit SRNIE on our tax settings page (https://console.aws.amazon.com/billing/home#/tax) for each of your AWS accounts. If the update is successful, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from us.
