Overview
erospike is the real-time database for mission-critical applications, including transactional systems, machine learning, and AI-driven workloads. It is designed to deliver consistent, predictable performance for user-facing systems, even as scale, load, and usage patterns change unpredictably. Global leaders like Adobe, Airtel, PayPal, Sony, and The Trade Desk rely on Aerospike for use cases such as personalization, fraud detection, and real-time bidding. Aerospike is trusted by over 300 enterprises and supports applications used by more than 2.5 billion people worldwide. Aerospike is available on AWS as a fully managed service, a database-as-a-service (DBaaS) offering, or for self-managed deployment on Amazon EC2. Aerospike Cloud and Database licenses are available via Private Offer. To request a Private Offer, please contact info@aerospike.com .
Highlights
- Consistent performance under unpredictable conditions: Deliver predictable, low-latency behavior for user-facing applications as workloads shift, traffic spikes, and systems scale.
- Stable performance at scale: Maintain consistent behavior as data volumes grow, systems evolve, and infrastructure changes over time.

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Boost authentication and session management with reliable and fast data handling
What is our primary use case?
Aerospike is mainly used as the first step for authentication, authorization, and session persistence in our organization. It is a critical part of our workflow, as without it, we wouldn't be able to authenticate users, which would create a single point of failure.
How has it helped my organization?
Aerospike has been very reliable in managing our authentication and authorization services, helping us process millions of users with scalability.
What is most valuable?
From a pricing standpoint, Aerospike might be on the expensive end, yet it offers features where everything can be stored in memory ephemerally. It provides good options for persistent and hybrid storage. It shows better compression and compaction, which is valuable. The speed at which data is ingested and retrieved is impressive. The Aerospike cluster is lean even with high reliability or replication factors.
What needs improvement?
There is a lot of technical debt in our company, and we need to update to the latest versions. The lack of automation in upgrading clusters from development to production is a concern. A tool for automatically handling such upgrades would reduce operational huddle. Additionally, it would be beneficial if Aerospike had a community version to encourage broader adoption and experimentation.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used this solution for around five to six years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
From a stability standpoint, Aerospike’s reliability is solid.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Even though we run on older versions, we have not faced any major issues regarding scalability.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We use other databases as well. The effective use case for Aerospike remains in areas where high scalability and fast data retrieval are necessary.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was a long time ago, before my tenure here, and I am not fully aware of the complexities involved.
What was our ROI?
We have considered migrating workloads from other database solutions to Aerospike. The current infrastructure provides a good ROI in terms of extracting value from the pricing.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We use around half a TB of data and spend approximately $36,000 to $40,000 USD per year on Aerospike.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
What other advice do I have?
Use it wisely, considering what data needs to be stored. The cost in a cost-sensitive market makes it tricky, so careful planning is crucial. We rate Aerospike as eight or nine out of ten.
