64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Version release notes
Automatic Trigger and Index Management by default for supported databases
DataMasque now automatically manages triggers and indexes for supported databases. If triggers are present, they may be triggered and overwrite masked data. By default, DataMasque will now disable triggers during a masking run, and re-enable them when the masking run finishes, preventing any possible data corruption from triggers. Indexes on masked columns are now disabled and re-enabled automatically during a masking run. This generally improves performance as the indexes are not constantly updated as data is written. To revert to the previous behaviour, specify auto_manage_triggers: false and auto_manage_indexes: false for mask_table or mask_unique_key tasks.
Stricter permissions for downloading non-supplementary files
Now, only admin users are allowed to download non-supplementary files through the Files section of the DataMasque UI. This prevents non-admin users from downloading files such as Oracle Wallets or MySQL SSL credentials.

Customer reviews
Data masking has improved QA testing coverage and protects all discovered sensitive fields
What is our primary use case?
How has it helped my organization?
The testing scenarios are more complete.
What is most valuable?
Being able to generate the masking rules directly from the tool based on what it finds during the data discovery helps ensure that all sensitive fields are identified and masked.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used the solution for one year.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
This is the first time I am using this tool.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The DM team was very happy to work with us when we were determining the pricing and licensing model we wanted to use.
What other advice do I have?
The tech support is top notch!
Data masking has protected sensitive test data and enables accurate, large-scale QA testing
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for DataMasque is cleaning personal, personally identifiable information out of a production environment to use in our test and QA environments.
A quick, specific example of how I use DataMasque in those environments is that we take production data, we clean it and mask it, and we give it to our developers and our UI.
The whole idea of DataMasque allows me to do exactly what I just explained.
What is most valuable?
The best features that DataMasque offers are the speed and accuracy, which are by far the best of any of the masking products.
The speed and accuracy help my team because, since it's our test, our UI and test boxes, we don't want to introduce data errors and bugs or have any data leakage, so it's incredibly important to have accuracy. Speed is key because we have terabytes worth of data to process. If it was slower, it would take probably a week to be able to process and mask the whole thing, which is incredibly helpful.
DataMasque has positively impacted our organization by absolutely allowing us to more rigorously test our products within a safe environment without leaking personally identifiable information.
What needs improvement?
I think it would be great if the user experience was upgraded because it can be quite technical at times.
The user interface could benefit from an upgrade as it can be quite technical at times. I do not have a specific example of where it felt too technical or where the user experience could be smoother.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using DataMasque for the last couple of years.
What other advice do I have?
There are no improvements needed for DataMasque that we haven't already discussed.
My advice to others looking into using DataMasque is that it's an extremely good product that's getting better all the time.
My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer. I would rate this product an 8 out of 10.
