We are using Fortinet FortiGate for the SD-WAN solution between our branches. We also started using Fortinet's access points, wireless solution, and full fabric with switching. We are using many products from Fortinet.

We don't use Fortinet FortiGate for data center solutions; we just use Fortinet FortiGate for perimeter firewalls and wireless and switching.

The main benefits that Fortinet FortiGate provides is the security of the network.

Fortinet FortiGate has many functions, and it is one of the best next-generation firewalls with an affordable cost than other vendors. 

Fortinet FortiGate is useful for network performance, and it helps to optimize the links between branches and the applications that are used from the data center to other branches. 

The integration between SD-WAN and FortiGate is easy. It accommodates our needs.

They can add automation for monitoring and policy optimization on the firewall. I think using AI to do some optimization on the policies would be beneficial, such as providing alerts about policies that haven't been used for a long time or identifying overlapping policies.

I have been working with Fortinet FortiGate for at least six to seven years.

Palo Alto is the main competitor in the market. Fortinet FortiGate provides a simple solution. It is less expensive than Palo Alto and meets our requirements.

Fortinet FortiGate is a perimeter firewall which we are using for protecting our network and for defining policies so that only restricted access is given from outside to serve this purpose.

It went smoothly and we have found it very useful because we have a redundant internet lease line. It takes care of all our requirements.

To improve Fortinet FortiGate, I think they need to improve the software and make updates more quickly, rather than taking a long time to update the software or firmware.

Fortinet FortiGate is stable in the data center environment and in its functionality. It is scalable. The price is competitive in the market, especially when integrated with other Fortinet solutions. It has a return on investment without the need for additional licenses for products such as FortiSwitches and FortiAP.

Their customer service is great because the TAC service in Latin America is available 24/7 in English and Spanish. I am happy with the service. I have been with that platform for about two to three years.

In general, Fortinet FortiGate's stability is very good, but in some cases, there are unusual situations. For example, we have one client with high availability with two Fortinet FortiGates, where one of them has high processor and memory usage while the other one is low, and they work in a passive-active scheme for availability. The strange part is that one Fortinet FortiGate works perfectly, and the other one has high processor and memory consumption.

Most clients are in one location, but two or three clients have SD-WAN characteristics in their implementations.

I would rate their support a nine out of ten. The support is very good, but it's not always easy to find a Spanish speaker, as some clients don't know how to speak English and need support in Spanish.

I integrate SD-WAN features for some clients; specifically, I have three or four clients with SD-WAN integrations, while most of my clients are with one location. I find it easy integrating these capabilities.

Security is very good with Fortinet for my clients; this is one of the best reasons to make a decision to buy a Fortinet solution.

Fortinet FortiGate saves a lot of time in expert hours from an expert engineer because the administration of the Fortinet FortiGate solution is easy, which may lead to fewer hours of an engineer spent on Fortinet FortiGate. It could save approximately 40 hours a month.

I would recommend this solution to others; it's the best solution in the market. The main advice I give to people who consider using Fortinet FortiGate is for security and administration, as we can get complete visibility of the network.

We mainly use the Fortinet FortiGate for perimeter wall protection and internet usage, protecting our network from internet threats and our endpoints, so we've set it at a perimeter level.

The main benefit I have seen from using Fortinet FortiGate is the protection it offers because I can see threats that come through in real-time, and if they are blocked, I can see that. We are able to customize those features, and it's so customizable that I can tweak it to fit our environment; it has really been helpful.

The hardware-assisted DDoS protection in FortiGate has helped us. We are able to monitor traffic in real-time and block it as needed. We have enabled this feature in every policy we created, so it consistently checks for any threats.

What I appreciate about the Fortinet FortiGate is the throughput and the management aspect; it's easy to manage. Unlike what we used before, initially, we had Microsoft Forefront, so moving from that application-based to a firewall which is appliance-based was really helpful. 

I would like to see the licensing aspect improved because there is a feature we were yearning to use, the bandwidth monitoring feature, but it's licensed separately. It's not bundled with the enterprise bundle, and since we normally buy the advanced hardware support annually, we found out that the license is licensed separately. If they could bundle it together, it could really be helpful to us.

We've been using it for the last seven years, and it has been helpful. We are looking forward to upgrading as the one we are having is at the end of life already. We are planning to upgrade to the latest one, and we are looking forward to the features it will offer.

I have been working with Fortinet FortiGate for seven years.

I haven't faced any downtimes, crashes, or issues with it; it's very stable.

My experience with technical support for Fortinet FortiGate has been excellent. I would rate them nine out of ten; they've been really good.

I decided to move from Microsoft to Fortinet FortiGate. Fortinet and Cisco were rated highly worldwide. We compared those two and settled for FortiGate because of its manageability. The Microsoft firewall used to fail frequently, so we didn't want to go to another Microsoft product.

The experience with the initial setup and deployment process of the Fortinet FortiGate was complex, especially in terms of linking users. In our environment, we normally use the feature for Active Directory, and we don't give everyone internet access. We've enabled this feature called SSO linked to our Active Directory, and we create groups there. Setting that up initially was really tricky, so we had to engage the support team to sort us out. However, moving forward, it has been very good.

There are no challenges with updates and upgrades. They are straightforward. We have support from Fortinet and the local partner. 

We had a local partner here helping us with the initial setup.

It has worked and surpassed our expectations. We've really benefited from that.

It's pretty average compared to our environment.

My advice for other users looking into Fortinet FortiGate for their environment is to choose one that will serve them based on their needs, whether that's throughput or the number of users. That's really important to ensure they don't do an overkill, as we initially thought we went for a big firewall, only to realize later that it was the right choice. For our upgrade, we'll just go for a bit higher, but generally, it really serves us.

Fortinet FortiGate is stable. I am told that Fortinet FortiGate is one of the best solutions available, and I believe it. We rarely have any issues with it. My only concern is that they charge separately for every option that is available. It has not improved anything; it simply maintains and keeps operations going.

We are not utilizing Fortinet FortiGate to its full capacity because we have to pay for every small feature. It is also something I would replace once it starts to fail. Fortinet FortiGate appears very old, and everything we use requires additional payment.

Fortinet FortiGate has been with us as long as the switches we've had. It was already here when I came on board, and it was implemented when we started up the school facilities about 10 years ago.

I would rate it low because we rarely ever have to call support. When I call in, I do not have any issues to report.

It has not improved anything; it simply maintains and keeps operations going. Every year we pay close to $2,000 for this security, and we only use it for web filtering.

We have Cisco products at our site, including Cisco switches deployed among our campus. We have Cisco WSC-3850 24-port switches, SG 300 28-port switches, and some old WSC-2960 48-port switches.

We use a Fortinet FortiGate 300e for our medium-sized organization. We have approximately 600 students, 200 staff, faculty, and office workers, totaling about 1,000 users going through it. It serves one location with three buildings.

We are planning to move away from Cisco switches as they have become quite expensive. Our strategy is to transition to Ubiquiti enterprise solutions.

The main use cases for the product revolve around perimeter security, and it depends on LAN to WAN traffic, especially in work-from-home scenarios wherein the customer wants to access the local infrastructure remotely. It is also sometimes used in data centers, but many times Palo Alto is used.

Fortinet FortiGate serves as the first line of defense. It is robust and easy to configure, and I haven't seen any breaches happening when configured properly based on best practices. In the Indian market, clients have a lot of trust in this product.

The most useful functions of Fortinet FortiGate are SD-WAN, which is very easy to configure. Its user interface is also very good, making it easy for any engineer to explain configuration changes over the phone without needing to take remote access. Integration of SD-WAN capabilities with Fortinet FortiGate is simple to integrate.

They are already making improvements with the integration of AI and machine learning (ML). While I haven't personally used these features yet, I see that the focus is primarily on AI operations that fall under the umbrella of AI and ML. Additionally, they offer FortiManager with a signal dashboard that allows for the monitoring and configuration of multiple FortiGate firewalls, which is quite impressive. Moreover, they now provide a SaaS offering for FortiManager, which I believe is a good development overall.

If they can come up with a feature that allows scalability within the firewall itself, such as 'scale as you grow,' that would be a valuable improvement. Fortinet is already implementing AI and ML, although I haven't used it personally. AI ops are covered under it, and they also have FortiManager, which allows for monitoring and configuring multiple Fortinet FortiGate firewalls through a single dashboard.

We also work with Palo Alto solutions. Palo Alto has a distinct advantage because it offers some great features that are already available, such as DNS security, which we have a lot of experience with. Palo Alto is unmatched in a data center environment. This is why many people tend to trust Palo Alto firewalls more compared to FortiGate. As for perimeter security, FortiGate excels in that area.

In most small and medium enterprises and SMBs, we usually propose SonicWall, and for enterprises, we work with Palo Alto or Fortinet FortiGate, depending on the requirement. It makes sense to propose the Fortinet FortiGate firewall, especially if the customer is already using the SD-WAN feature.

The initial setup for Fortinet FortiGate is simple.

The only challenge with Fortinet FortiGate is the pricing model.

Currently, we are considering Fortinet FortiGate solely for perimeter security, and for SASE and other approaches, we go with other solutions. I have not used AI and ML FortiGuard services with Fortinet FortiGate yet.

Overall, I would rate Fortinet FortiGate an eight out of ten.

We deploy the FortiGate Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) mainly in education, with retail, big retails, and other industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, and some banking.

Some of the best features with the FortiGate Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) particularly are its security focus, the easy to configure IPS, the Layer 7 capabilities, and the easy way to configure different VDOMs in each equipment so we can separate the different features or the different sites that the client may use in one data center.

The application control feature has helped manage the network traffic with filtering and antivirus capabilities. When we use it in SD-WAN solutions, we can apply in a unified and easy way the different profiles for each branch, and we can also have one profile for the hub if they have a data center with some servers connecting to the FortiGate. We can have different profiles, and it helps us to detect easily any threat that we may have in the network and control the outbound traffic to the internet, restricting those applications or those web services that the final users don't need to have access to.

The FortiGate Next Generation Firewall (NGFW)'s anti-malware protection is very effective, as we have demonstrated through our work with this feature.

The FortiGate's analytic tools have provided insights into network security events by implementing the IOC license, Indicator of Compromise, in some customers, which has been very helpful because it demonstrates that we can identify the threats more easily or the difference in the way that the customers use the network. We can identify the possible behavior of the customers on the network and can identify the possible threats and isolate that customer if we receive any threat for the network or the company.

The web filtering has also helped for maintaining network security because we have been implementing some filters in customers so they don't have access to potential sites that can make a threat to our network, for example, to access peer-to-peer networks or any other sites that are not allowed in the company.

The FortiGate Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) could be improved in application control if they can have a bigger baseline of applications that they can identify, because this is something that is always growing. I know that Fortinet with the team is updating this database, but it's something that grows at a pace that is very difficult sometimes to keep up. This applies to all vendors, not only Fortinet.

I would rate their support for the FortiGate Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) on a scale of one to ten as 7.5.
