Powerful Real-Time Monitoring and Compliance Across Platforms

  • December 04, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Strong, Real-Time Data Activity Monitoring (DAM)
Broad Platform Coverage
Robust Compliance & Reporting
Automated, Scalable Security Controls
What do you dislike about the product?
Complex Setup and Configuration
Heavy Infrastructure Requirements
User Interface Feels Outdated
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lack of Visibility Into Data Access Across Complex Environments
Problem:

Modern organizations have data scattered across databases, cloud platforms, data warehouses, and big data systems. Tracking who is accessing what and identifying misuse is nearly impossible without a centralized solution.

How Guardium Helps:

Provides real-time data activity monitoring (DAM)

Centralizes logs across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid systems

Detects anomalies and suspicious queries immediately

Benefit:

You gain full visibility and control, reducing blind spots and helping prevent insider threats, data breaches, and compliance violations.

2. Meeting Regulatory Compliance Requirements
Problem:

Compliance frameworks like GDPR, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and SOX require tight controls, audit trails, and monitoring of sensitive data access. Manual reporting is error-prone and slow.

How Guardium Helps:

Provides prebuilt compliance reports and dashboards

Generates tamper-resistant audit logs

Automates evidence gathering

Benefit:

Audit cycles become faster, easier, and more accurate, reducing regulatory risk and saving significant time for compliance teams.

Robust Data Protection with a Learning Curve

  • December 04, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that IBM Guardium Data Protection lets me see who is accessing sensitive information and provides strong control. I appreciate the fast detection of unusual activity and insider risks. The compliance report is very strong, and it offers broad coverage across many data sources. I find the audit trail reliable and tamper-proof, and the real-time policies are powerful. The centralized management and flexible deployment model add to the ease of use. Additionally, it automates regulatory reporting for standards like GDPR, PCI DSS, HIPAA, or SOX, which is incredibly helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the complexity and learning curve of IBM Guardium Data Protection quite challenging. New users or small teams may need significant training to use it effectively, and there's some operational overhead to manage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use IBM Guardium Data Protection to discover, monitor, and protect sensitive data, with real-time monitoring and threat detection, simplifying compliance audits, and automating regulatory reporting.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that IBM Guardium Data Protection provides protection across various file systems and big data platforms, including cloud and SaaS environments.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well, it can be further better in terms of assessing the vulnerabilities. Don't think right now that part of the algorithm is working great. The vulnerability protection is something what I look for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use IBM Guardium Data Protection for monitoring and protecting sensitive data across databases, data warehouses, big data platforms, and file systems.

Robust Compliance Tool with Custom Report Capabilities

  • December 02, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate how robust IBM Guardium Data Protection is, especially when it comes to its audit process and the mechanism available for creating custom reports. The system is particularly beneficial as it allows for the creation of views that involve different stakeholders like Business Owners and DBAs, which aids in comprehensive, multi-faceted access reviews. I also value the product's capacity to generate granular reports tailored to specific needs. This level of detail in reports is something I found lacking in McAfee, which is why I switched to IBM Guardium Data Protection.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the regex functionality in the reports problematic, especially since Group types based on regex don't work as intended. I also encounter limitations with the reports, such as being unable to remove API functions or delete audit process reports sent to receivers. Additionally, creating groups based on Object Name is not possible, which restricts our customization capabilities. The initial setup was challenging due to the necessity of building 10 collectors and 2 aggregators, which added complexity to the process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use IBM Guardium Data Protection for database monitoring, alerts, and ISO 27001/2 compliance. It helps with reviewing authorized and unauthorized access, offers robust auditing, and enables detailed, customizable reports for different stakeholders.
