Ensures data security and compliance with reliable alerts and protections

  • April 09, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case of IBM Security Guardium Data Protection was within our assurance company. We needed the solution to secure our database, which stores users' information and assurance data.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features, in my opinion, included the alerts and protections for specific tables and fields. The solution was not complicated to manage. It is a very important solution for security and compliance, ensuring we did not need any alternative option. It is a compliant solution, making it necessary for us.

What needs improvement?

The manuals should be clearer. There needs to be an online course or tutorial for faster management training. The maintenance was slightly complicated. I had to read the manuals carefully and even failed the Guardium certification exam due to insufficient information or time. Improving the tool learning process would be beneficial.

For how long have I used the solution?

I installed Guardium a few years ago.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

I did not face any deployment issues.

How are customer service and support?

I did not receive support from IBM. I handled everything myself.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not use another solution before Guardium. I was searching for another database security solution, but other options, like Imperva, were also expensive.

How was the initial setup?

On a scale of one to ten, setting up IBM Security Guardium Data Protection was a seven, indicating it was fairly easy.

What about the implementation team?

I implemented the solution by myself without any help.

What was our ROI?

The investment return was good because IBM Security Guardium Data Protection provided significant security and compliance benefits.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't remember the exact prices, but Guardium is an expensive tool because it is targeted towards corporate enterprises.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

The only alternate solution I evaluated was Imperva, which was also expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend IBM Security Guardium Data Protection to others. I rate the overall solution as eight or nine.
