NGFW experience with higher level security blades

  • February 12, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best?
First of all, all the blades except URL filtering is in the same interface provides a big time saving when leading the security operations.
Smartdashboard is very user friendly, very easy to use, clonning, copy/paste operations are very useful at all.
Other example, for IPS blade, administrator can write signature based exceptions for specific users. It provides flexibility to except specific connections from specific signatures.
What do you dislike?
licensing may be confusing sometimes :) Not a pros but as an administrator, user should know troubleshooting cli commands before upgrading gateways in case of a problem.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Firstly, inline layer technology is helpful to classify the traffic according to different security groups. So that we could isolate them totally. And also inline layer prevents human error because you are limiting source, destination, service or application parameters at the top of inline layer rule.
One other example is we could prevent critical and high risk applications to be reached from internal network through the internet by using application blade.

What do you like best?
It is generally easy to configure and manage using smartcenter. Also smartlog solution is really helps to troubleshoot to any problem that we encounter. Also sandblas zero trust security approach that helps our organization more safer. Smartconsole is the best gui when compared to other companies it is very easy to use it and it is much more secure when compared to web gui.
What do you dislike?
Time to time there is a hardware issues and some RMA on firewall devices(disks, NIC cards and etc), they should solve hardware problems as soon as possible.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Smartcenter and smartlog is the best platform to manage firewall rules and also sandblast zero trust and hold mode very usefull to encounter any security leakeges.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think that maestro is look like very sophisticated and it is the most important feature in next days, but firstly we should see how is worked and is it stable or not.
