Solves most of Business needs
What do you like best about the product?
RHEL is next generation cloud ready OS we used for all application and DB tiers
What do you dislike about the product?
nothing as such most of things meets our need
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reliability
Great for Enterprise Solutions
What do you like best about the product?
RHEL is the best to be used in the production environments; the security related to the server is very appreciative and convincing. I have been using RHEL for 2 years and its experience is so far so good.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike when it comes to RHEL, but with prons, there are some crons as well. It is not best for the ones who use miccrosoft products as most of the work you have to do is in the terminal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With RHEL I have solved many problems; I have many scripts installed in my RHEL crontab which are helping me to solve the daily task as automated environments; I received daily reports of the Production server.
Incredibly powerful and great on resources
What do you like best about the product?
I love how powerful it is, compared to how little resources it uses. Very small footprint
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike is how extremely picky Linux can be. I love Linux, but case sensitivity with files and paths can get annoying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for our vulnerability scanner. It runs extremely fast!
Redhat Review
What do you like best about the product?
being in a secure environment for the application is the best thing. even the commands are handy and open source in internet is the best source for the help.
What do you dislike about the product?
GUI is the only the setback in this environment, but when it comes to security for the environment, it has the upper hand on its competitors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have created numerous shell scripts to automate the manual efforts.
Red Hat Linux is one of a highly efficient and secure operating system.
What do you like best about the product?
Red Hat Linux is secure as all the process/ tasks run based on permissions. Hence there is no chance any virus/ worm can enter your system. On top of that, the software makes sure only active tasks are up and running. Rest of the tasks keep on sleeping until activated which increases CPU performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
This operating system does not lack any feature. You can use any software on this system with any sort of versions. It is highly flexible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being a highly flexible Operating System, we can modify the base packages according to our need and configure the system accordingly. You can delete the unnecessary packages and keep only the important and useful applications.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You need to have basic knowledge of Linux for better administration on Red Hat Linux.
RedHat Enterprise Linux Best OS
What do you like best about the product?
Ease to available and frequent security updates
What do you dislike about the product?
Everything looks good till today no problems faced
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Testing of Linux Based apps is very easy. Specially when you have an easy available operating system
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Best Operating System with security enhancements and frequent updates. All are available with GUI & CLI Interface
Very good OS for Enterprise
What do you like best about the product?
The RedHat linux platform is one of the best OSes I've used for software development. The massive amount of libraries available for free and general compatibility of most everything means it makes a project much more efficient.
Another important feature is the continous updates by the RedHat organization to continue to provide a secure system preventing hackers and malicious entities from breaching the firewalls.
Another important feature is the continous updates by the RedHat organization to continue to provide a secure system preventing hackers and malicious entities from breaching the firewalls.
What do you dislike about the product?
The poor UI compared to other Linux OS es such as Ubuntu. The REDHAT platform is heavily text based as it is meant to be used on remote servers rather than desktops; however, sometimes it is necessary to use it as a GUI and this functionality can be added. In addition there can be more of a webbased interface built native into the RedHat rather than finding third party platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We deployed to host our core software program to process massive amounts of data in real time and give us a result allowing our business to make a core decision. The high level of reliability and the high security give us a huge benefit as our systems can cause big problems for residents of California if hacked by malicious entities and defame our organization resulting in future funding cuts or excessive oversights.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Best for those looking for highly secure system.
Redhat running Linux on z
What do you like best about the product?
Redhat boots up faster than any other OS that is currently running on IBM z mainframe. Having quick bootup speeds helps a business with the ability to get backup and running within seconds.
What do you dislike about the product?
Installing Redhat on z is very challenging and the documentation isn't showing the correct steps. There are a lot more steps needed that aren't described in the manual, plus it would also be nice to have a similar GUI as SUSE does (YaST)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Containerization and speed of deployment
Linux, but with (paid) support!
What do you like best about the product?
RHEL is just the same open-source Linux you can get from everybody else, but it comes with support. That's very important for companies running mission critical systems that need someone to talk to whenever a problem arises, and they will do their best to find a solution as soon as possible.
RHEL also ensures that the software it bundles is tested and supported, so everything is usually working as you would expect. Their long term support usually lasts more than 10 years, so you really don't have to rush upgrading to the next version, and you'll have plenty of time to plan for the updates.

What do you dislike about the product?
Having used Debian, or Debian-based distributions like Ubuntu for the most time, I sometimes find RHEL not so confortable when compared to these other Linux distributions. Things like the package manager (dnf), location of configuration files, or internal system utilities are, in my opinion, more cumbersome than the Debian counterpart.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use RHEL in some of our servers, where we host our customers' applications. We need a stable, supported environment, where fault-tolerance and high-availability are a must.
Between all the big commercial Linux vendors (SLES, Oracle, etc) we chose RedHat because it was, for us, the most popular one and also it was offered by one of our clould providers.
We don't use RHEL in our workstations, though.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Since 2016, there exists a "no-cost" licensed RHEL version. It comes with no support, of course, and you can't use it for commercial purposes, but at least it is a way for you to evaluate the product and decide if it fits your needs before paying for it. If paid support is not that important for you, be aware that some open-source, free of charge, derivative distributions, also exist.
