In house container platform provided by RedHat

What do you like best about the product?
I like the OpenShift UI, which we can use to monitor the PODS; it also provides a browser-based terminal. You can configure the number of pods that you want, and you can scale the number up or down based on your need. It's easy to use tool. Before to Openshift all the work down was manual and we had to do most of things manually. Whe we started using OpenShift most of the things like deployment and all was automated. It's a easy one time configuration that you need have.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you have several microservices, then creating an Image for each microservice is costly in OpenShift. We should have a single image that should be reusable to deploy multiple microservices. Maybe that's possible; it's yet to be implemented.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The most important feature that we are using automated deployment based on our need. It's easy to scale up or scale down the application pod. And in case your application is down due to some reason, OpenShift itself is capable of bringing up new instance.

What do you like best about the product?
Openshift enables efficient container orchestration, allowing rapid container provisioning.
What do you dislike about the product?
Additional data storage is little costly than other products or services.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Openshift is helping us to innovate snd go to market faster. It enables our development team to focus on doing what they do best- designing and testing applications. This is the area where we have been struggling in the past.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it and you will not be disappointed.

Prices per instance or cluster

  • April 30, 2021
  • Review verified by AWS Marketplace

It's not clear whether the pricing on the Rosa Product overview are valid for an instance or a cluster.

Within a standard cluster deploy the following instances are deployed: Master: 3, Infra: 2, Compute: 2. The 7 instances in total are of type m5.xlarge. I assume that you will have to multiply the prices by 7.

Some clarification would be welcome!!!

Great tool for the development and hosting of content.

What do you like best about the product?
Openshit is a great tool for developers, in its platform, you can develop all kinds of applications, and host them on the same site, where after you can perform all kinds of tests with them, in a secure environment of execution, the number of applications can be developed and launched in this system are countless, you can create as many as you want, also has a large number of tools that can make the development process somewhat easier, depending on the features that are needed, this system has with multiple language support, which allows developing applications for foreign clients, in their own language, without the need to use other applications to translate the characteristics of them, the templates with which the application has can be somewhat limited, but many can Serve for a quick job.
What do you dislike about the product?
Backup copies can take a long time, can take hours to restore after saving, which does not help much, when you need some information that has been compressed, since it takes time to have it available and not always, one has it, at the beginning, it was a little difficult for me some features of this system, it is developed for advanced users, new developers who are not familiar with this type of development applications in the cloud, vain to find it difficult.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Thanks to this system, we have a site where you can develop and run applications at any time, which allows you to make the operation known to other people, without needing to install it in another type of device, a tool of great help for any developer.

Openshift makes Container Management with Kubernetes Simple

  • July 17, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of uploading is definitely a huge plus. By creating an Openshift cluster on one VM you can locally create images and immediately have them accessible and scalable in a matching web-based UI.
What do you dislike about the product?
Openshift clusters don't have clear logs upon failure and require going deep into the structure of your docker files without much clarity. Some better automated logging on the web interface would go a long way to improving the software as a whole.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Implementing secure containerization of micro-services for hundreds of thousands of VMs. These services must be scalable in order to meet user need fluctuation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend that anyone planning to use Openshift acquaint themselves with the Docker and Kubernetes documentation and be sure that they have experience creating Docker images of course. I think it is a great secure combination of these two open-source softwares from Red-Hat. Additionality I think the UI adds value in the right ways though it could have more information and data for administrators and users to understand errors. Overall, Openshift is a successful software stack for companies that require certified software and want to move to containerization. It is easy to use with repositories and it's secrets and volumes are easy to adapt to and get to know how to use. With limited knowledge of the documentation you can get several containers up and running and scaling within 20 to 30 minutes. Internal documentation is of course key for getting to know the software better in it's use at your company.

OpenShift for Web Hosting

  • April 11, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Open Shift provides new actively subscribed user with a starter account that comes with 1GiB of memory and storage for a single project space and open community support. Additionally, they provides a really quick and helpful response to any questions you may have within a few business days which reflects great customer service.
What do you dislike about the product?
Just recently, Open Shift switches from basic JBoss Web Server with Apache Tomcat 8 to a more complex and secure project setup using https that requires certificate and key setup. Without any experience in TLS Termination and SSL certificates it may be difficult for someone who is new to deploying web applications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Research new technologies for hosting web applications in a tomcat server. The benefit that came with this research discovery is that this cloud platform is a great choice for new starters learning deployment of web applications in a cloud environment. Also great for small business owners interested in starting a new website!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommend Open Shift as a consideration for deploying your own web application that is accessible to anyone with connection to the World Wide Web (WWW). However, I would suggest anyone without experience in SSL Certificates to learn the material before attempting deployment using the tomcat server option.
