I am a data architect
What do you like best about the product?
Snowflake has great performance, feature rich and has a good road map for where it wants to go.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice if there were some on prem offerings in addition to cloud. Additionally, a focus on real time data is a must.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data lake, data share, business aligned cost for compute
User-friendly approach to data
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the visual interface combined with the ability to use SQL. Easy way to create a data warehouse.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be good to build out the visual interface a bit more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My organization has experienced significant data silos and snowflake is allowing us to improve the situation. This allows for easier/faster data analysis.
Interesting to hear about the future potentials
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoyed hearing about the future enhancements as well as how Snowflake can integrate with so many different platforms
What do you dislike about the product?
The training was a bit of a mess. Too many problems with permissions on the training accounts and it was incredibly slow - I would consider having multiple training sessions for various levels of data warehouse knowledge
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are still looking at Snowflake as a potential cloud data warehouse solution, but it would eliminate the issues with having multiple SQL servers as well as other servers to hold our data
Excellent DW Platform
What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility, elasticity, control, security, no maintenance, no downtime!!!
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing! We have to pay for every second we use. I would say one of the things I dislike the most is that we even have to pay for querying the Snowflake usage database. We shouldn't be billed for that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are doing away with our Oracle Data Warehouse and with our Big Data Platform. With that, a ton of time spent on maintenance is now going to be spent on development of our enterprise data model.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you estimate your data usage properly so you can better estimate the price of using Snowflake
My Snowflake Eperience
What do you like best about the product?
Snowflake is all about speed and flexibility. It's easy to expand when necessary.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not all of the database features exist yet. Simple things like constraints and stored procedures would be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting away from the complexity and expense of Oracle.
Performant, easy-to-use and TRULY cloud
What do you like best about the product?
We've only been using Snowflake for a couple of months, but have been extremely pleased with the performance and usability of the system. We migrated from Redshift and immediately began to see benefits to both performance and cost - the same queries were running in less time on less resources.
What do you dislike about the product?
As of right now, the main problem with Snowflake has been the ramp to get started. There's not that many resources available for how to properly move over from Redshift/Tableau to using Snowflake and Tableau together. There were some hiccups related to the way in which Tableau reads the column names which come out of Snowflake versus how the column names are read out of Redshift.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Snowflake has been a future-proofing move for us, but we have seen benefits to both cost and performance very quickly. Overall, we are really pleased and excited to continuing to develop with the platform and seeing what it is capable of.
My Review
What do you like best about the product?
Performance hands down! It does things 10x faster than oracle dw
What do you dislike about the product?
no constraints so its hard to prevent duplicates. This makes it hard
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data warehouse

Snowflake Is and Excellent tool
What do you like best about the product?
The biggest benefit to using snowflake for us has been the ease of use when it comes to data management and tool interaction. When we migrated from Redshift we also saw a huge increase in performance due to the improvement in the way that concurrency impacted our looker instance. I highly recommend!
The administration tooling/UI in snowflake is amazing. I don't need to have highly trained database admins handling everything. Its easy to understand and work with functionally makes it much more accessible to less technically skilled individuals.

What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest issue we are facing now is implementing snowpipe. Some of the problems has been due to the lack of documentation on how errors are handled.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest problem that we have successfully tackled has been increased number of users we can have using Looker, due to the concurrency increase.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Leverage the admin tooling and UI, you can do some great things with it that other tools cannot match.
If you are using Looker, leverage multiple connections(use multiple models) to separate out usage across different warehouses, get the most value from different sized warehouses to the types of BI work being done.

Game changer in the Date Warehouse space
What do you like best about the product?
Cutting edge DW with ability to handle unstructured data. Splitting compute vs. storage is genius.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes being on the cutting edge has some drawbacks in terms of bugs, but that's part of the fun.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Handling unstructured data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just do it! Seriously it's wayyy better than Azure and AWS
