Most advanced data platform
What do you like best about the product?
Databricks has been developing an excellent product with new features being added constantly. ETL/ELT, dbt integration, integration with external sources, and many more features make it a product that is versatile and highly effective. Managment of permissions is also extremely easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some automated recommendations on optimizing jobs are lacking, so you could end up spending quite a lot of money without the best performance. The platform is also not for small scale use-cases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Databricks is providing the fundamental building block of our data warehouse + data lake + data processing platform from which other systems receive analytics data.
It is a one stop solution to collaborate for all Data Engineering and Data Science activities

Collaboration,Feature store,MLOps,scheduling
What do you dislike about the product?
Don't have a way to put dependencies between workflows

It has helped me build the datalake for business intelligence usecases

What do you like best about the product?
The Databricks Lakehouse Platform's seamless integration of data lakes and data warehouses, which offers the best of both worlds for data analytics and processing, is its most useful feature. Users in a variety of jobs are empowered by the platform's strong and intuitive user interface, which also promotes collaboration and increases output. Its rich built-in analytics and machine learning capabilities allow for sophisticated modelling and complex data transformations for the extraction of insightful information. The platform's scalability guarantees effective management of complex data processing operations. And finally, its strong data security and governance features provide users confidence when handling sensitive data.
What do you dislike about the product?
One area for improvement with the Databricks Lakehouse Platform is the occasional challenge faced when troubleshooting certain issues, where enhanced support options or an expanded knowledge base would be beneficial.

The Databricks Lakehouse Platform tackles the challenge of seamlessly integrating data lakes and data warehouses, allowing me to effortlessly manage and analyze vast amounts of data. It has been a game-changer, streamlining my workflows, boosting productivity, and enabling me to extract valuable insights from diverse data sources. With its scalability and built-in analytics capabilities, I can optimize data processing and unlock actionable intelligence with ease.
Getting Even Simpler
What do you like best about the product?
With each new iteration and improvement, things like streaming are getting even easier. DLT, lakehouse AI and other upcoming tech will be making things even easier in the future.
What do you dislike about the product?
The number of features behind a private preview. It would be better if we could all have access to the private preview items by just going into the public but saying that they're in beta.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Streaming and the constant evolution of the product just makes things simpler as the product progresses.

Governance, offerings like Unity catalogue. Some of the future offerings like Lakehouse AI seem very promising. Would be keen to learn more about the platform and use it

Nothing at this point. The concepts seem great. I would love to get more hands on experience on the same and use it for production implementations and form a better opinion
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Governance and being able to catalogue and inventory the data. The cost optimization options are great as well and can bring down the overall spend. Data harmonization is another area

Handling massive data with ease, had to struggle a little bit with data coming from azure and aws cloud.

Need more support materials to troubleshoot things,

Moved all our legacy data from on-prem servers to the cloud. More reliable and easy to scale

What do you like best about the product?
The SQL workspace has improved a lot and many of the new features are very applicable to data analytic work. The machine learning module from MLflow provides a great pipeline framework for data scientist.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up the work environment is still challenging. Some of the UI component can be improved, for example, I don't really like the way how the directories are displayed on the platform now because often time I cannot see the full name of the folder or files.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need cloud compute to complete some of the ML and statistical model training, which is one of the major reasons we are migrating to Databricks. The way how big data is handled and managed is the key to our company success.

purquet format and its very flexible compare thotraditional data warehouse

It is a bit learning curve to get used to it. Its harder to connect the dots.

less moving the data meaning less pipelines and less errors

It includes the functionality of traditional data warehouse.

I cannot think of any downsides. It checks all the boxes for what I am looking for.

It provides a one-stop shop for structured and unstructured data and, at the same time, gives users traditional RDBMS capabilities
