Best onboarding plan for an analytics tool
What do you like best about the product?
* Great plan for helping you get up to speed and support for defining events
* Solid training materials (Heap 101 courses, FAQs, and Customizable Guides)
* Managed project plan to get live on schedule
* Custom events that can be added outside of a release schedule
* Retroactive event tracking for new custom events and definitions

What do you dislike about the product?
* The initial implementation effort is still fairly high - it's just doesn't have to be an engineer to set this up
* Still want more on the reporting side, specifically around accounts and account health
* More visualization options on the reporting side would be great
* More examples of how to use Heap for a site that is not a Marketing site, eCommerce side, or a more traditional "funnel" based site

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Heap to provide necessary insights into our customer segments, how they use our product, and whether they are maximizing the usage of their product. We're starting with our web application and plan to extend to our mobile apps in the near future. So far we're already seeing benefits from getting basic information while we refine down to the reports we need.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to plan out the effort to define events up front. While this is much easier to do in Heap than in other tools, your success will depend entirely on how well you plan to support the tool and onboard your team successfully.
Heap - WSYWIG insights
What do you like best about the product?
Heap is incredibly user-friendly. It captures the vast majority of needed data immediately and, for front-end events, allows those data to be defined after-the-fact using a point+click tool. Collecting server-side events is also easy, and it integrates quickly w. aggregating tools like Segment.
Once you have all your sources set up, conducting analyses is as straightforward as it gets, and sharing/dashboarding those analyses is push-button simple. Their tooling covers everything from unique counts / sums / averages / minmax to funnels, path analysis, and influence analysis.
All of these features work easily across environments (eg dev & prod) allowing for analytics testing before deployment.

What do you dislike about the product?
You can only export 5k rows to excel, which limits our ability to conduct analysis outside of the tool without streaming to another DB for export.
Analysis by hour or date-cohort is also tricky inside of Heap, but this is really a value-add feature vs. a requirement.
Finally there are little finnicky pieces that need attention - for example, if you have set up filters / groups and then change the initial query parameters, those filters/groups need to be recreated. This is just a hassle, though, not a deal breaker!

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap is our primary external analytics tool. We use it for A/B testing, cohort analysis, funnel analysis - just about anything that doesn't require clicktracking video (e.g. fullstory), error feedback (e.g. logrocket), or highly multivariate manipulation (excel).
Having events replicate between dev & prod speeds up our ability to test, validate, and launch new features because we can guarantee that we'll have tracking on them when they're live.
Being able to easily share dashboards & analyses keeps the entire team on the same page, and being able to annotate those views ensures that details / nuances are easily surfaced.

Heap - A very insightful behavioral analytics tool
What do you like best about the product?
I like how it captures all the data automatically with just a few lines of code on the page/ domain.
What do you dislike about the product?
Graphical UI can improve a little. More options to chart out different visualizations
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gives us integration with a lot of different tools like VWO, that helps us to get insights and dig deeper into the control and variant group which helps us make key business decisions.
User-friendly visual analytics
What do you like best about the product?
The plug and play aspect of the application is the best part - it saves your data before you even know what you want to analyze! Flexible options for visuals and tables to let you both easily view high level and dig in to the details. The interface is intuitive and the product is easy to learn how to use. Plus, they regularly update with new looks and features!
What do you dislike about the product?
It can sometimes be challenging to drill down to what I need to see, but the application I use Heap for is extremely complex with a lot of moving parts so that is mostly on my end. Reports are very easy to use, but I think that in some cases the navigation and update options could be more intuitive and flexible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am finding where our customers are encountering site errors, and where they are dropping out of the funnel between arriving at our site and completing their order. Primary benefit I have gotten out of Heap is the ability to create custom API elements focused around new features that we add to our application to provide easy insights into whether they resonate with customers or not.
Best tool for cross-platform product analytics
What do you like best about the product?
It is easy-to-install due to autocapture of events feature.
No code is needed, no need to predefine events that we want to track.
Heap tracks not only clicks but also page views, submits, sessions and changes.
They have an education platform Heap University to upgrade analytical skills.
Their Sales and Customer Success are very responsive, patient and happy to help at any stage of onboarding process.
The pricing is not the lowest but still more affordable than some other tools on the market.

What do you dislike about the product?
I can't say there is much to dislike, only minor things:
As any analytical tool, it takes some time for learning and adopting a tool.
It doesn't have autocapture for desktop native apps.
Heap doesn't work with the latest Jetpack compose yet.
The roles defined in Heap for managing it are not very clear and require additional explanation.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team was looking for a cross-platform solution that allows us to track our users from their acquisition to churn, see how they move between platforms, switch paid plans, adopt features and become inactive and answer the main question of WHY.
Once installed we have immediately seen how valuable this information can be not only for the product team, but also for developers, sales and marketing.
While selecting a tool we had some concerns about the efforts that would be needed in order to install and support such add-on to our platform, but in fact, our development team has been super-excited to see how easy it is. It also allowed us to remove some other tools that we've been using before because now we can have one source of truth.
Now, when launching a new feature, we no longer need to wait for Analytics department to come up with certain metrics or for developers to set up events before the release, all this happens automatically.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have multiple apps, Heap will be your go-to solution and most valuable spent for the budget.
Use their trial to see how easy it is to install and use and I'm sure all your teams will be happy to use it as well.

Empowers cross functional teams
What do you like best about the product?
allows both product/engineering and non-engineering teams to quickly gain insights into funnel and behavioral data on our website across web properties.
What do you dislike about the product?
API / rate-limiting can be improved to scale better
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Rapid insights for online behavioral data and funnel analysis. Heap allows teams across the company to quickly dig through events and funnels without too much involvement from the webapp team to customize instrumentation.
Intelligent platform, with even more intelligent customer support
What do you like best about the product?
Heap University hands down. It helps you scale up quicker than you’d ever think.
What do you dislike about the product?
As expected, the learning curve is relatively steep. Creating and defining all the events is very tedious and the UI could be a bit better to guide you through this process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our product team is using it to answer questions on the fly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
None at this stage. Relatively new to the platform.
Powerful platform, user friendly interface
What do you like best about the product?
User interface is easy to use, API documentation is clear
What do you dislike about the product?
API is a bit limited. Could offer more functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Better understand user behaviour.
User-friendly and constant improvements
What do you like best about the product?
Heap retroactively applies definitions to events in the past, which makes it possible to perform back-analyses. Very few competitors offer this capability.
I also love the Event Visualizer. It makes defining events as easy as point-and-click.
I also love the Event Visualizer. It makes defining events as easy as point-and-click.
What do you dislike about the product?
The dashboard feature is very limited. You can only add graphs in two sizes. There is a limit to the number of reports you can add, and you cannot annotate. Another issue is that Heap suffers from Race Conditions. Defining events that happen at similar times can lead to situations where you cannot tell which happened first, especially in the Users view.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1) Heap helps us identify points of friction and drop-off. We can create funnels that show when and where users discontinue our online applications
2) Heap helps us debug edge cases. Using their Users view, we can look up customers who had an abnormal experience and pinpoint the exact sequence of events that occured.

Heap provides us with the critical data we need
What do you like best about the product?
The fact that once you add the Heap code to your website, every interaction is captured. You just need to worry about mining that data. No need to set up goals and not have the data from before the goals were setup.
What do you dislike about the product?
Heap is extremely powerful and can be a challenge for more novice users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowing with confidence what is happening on our website solves all sorts of problems and also presents opportunities.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Designate someone (or a few people) to become your in-house Heap guru. Not everyone will have time and having at least one or a few people well-versed in Heap is extremely helpful.
