Great foundation

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy implementation, great fidelity into users, cross-device tracking, easy to build reports for non-technical folks
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing in particular, i think it does a good job of doing enough things without being overwhelming
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Insights into user behaviours, flows, experiences that are broken.

Lots of capability, clear interface, fairly simple integration, but auto-events are a bit confusing

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's very easy to quickly create a dashboard with charts and data. The interface looks great and is snappy. It is also fairly easy to integrate into web and React Native.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's difficult to see details of custom events -- if I got a bunch of X errors, I'm not sure how to see the details that I sent along with those to analyze the root issue.
Also, I have been unable to set Alerts as their documentation says should be possible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Heap to get an overview of all sorts of live aspects of our apps. It's great for keeping track of a count of some custom event, charting incidence of errors vs successes when you use custom event definitions, or figuring out the flow that users take when navigating through the app. We also use it effectively to see user engagement as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'm not privy to the cost of our usage, but it has been fairly valuable to us.

Great product

What do you like best about the product?
The simple intuitive interface is really great and I’m never going back to google analytics
What do you dislike about the product?
Can’t think of anything at the moment! Love it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest benefit is just being able to clearly see our data and therefore interpreted

Some rough edges, but great for activity analysis

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The query UI makes it much easier to analyze the specific user flows I'm interested in compared to other tools I've used. For simple metric dashboards its extremely simple & fast to go from an idea to a published report. Heap has helped improve our rate of learning.
What do you dislike about the product?
To perform sophisticated analysis we need to export our data to a warehouse. It seemed like we ran up against this a little sooner in Heap than I had expected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We primarily use Heap for product analytics, where it has allowed a broad range of roles to directly contribute to metrics and experimentation conversations. That in turn has helped us learn and iterate faster and with more confidence.

Great for UX

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Heap is easy to you. I don't have an analytics background, but have found Heap to be easy to find my way around, and find the important data I need to craft amazing user experiences.
Heaps event visualizer tool makes it easy for my team to track certain changes on our site to see performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't dislike anything with Heap. I have had a few member mention that more hint text around events would be helpful. Perhaps forcing users to Categorize events, so you don't have a massive list of Uncategorized.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
On a day to day, we use Heap to identify user pain points, where user drop off, etc. This allows us to quickly see patterns and problems that our users may be having, which allows us to design new solutions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Given the proper training, Heap can be a valuable tool for design leaders within an organizations.

Great way to get your product data insights

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability to create custom events and funnels on the fly. It's super easy to use, intuitive and requires barely any training.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it's difficult to be certain that an event fires every time, which is problematic if you're using Heap to run A/B tests.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A/B testing, Behavioral tracking

Heap has helped us easily make data-driven decisions

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how Heap makes data analysis accessible to all team members (product, engineering, design, etc...). The customer support is typically very attentive as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
With Heap being so accessible by my team, sometimes it's hard to govern correct definitions of events we care about measuring and there ends up being a lot of inconsistency.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving opportunity sizing problems, conversion rate problems, and retention problems.

Auto Capture is a game-changer, website constantly improving

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Auto capture empowers non-technical teams to get answers independently. Coming from an organization that had to define event definitons to developer's and devote significant sprint resources to building them, having Heap just capture everything automatically was a true game-changer. While letting the developer's focusing on the fun stuff, I was able to consistently bring them insights into how products were getting adopted and used by our subscriber's
What do you dislike about the product?
Dashboarding features can be limiting to get things to look the way you want. I find myself frequently having to Export to CSV and present data in Excel as Heap's website tools can be limiting. This is frustrating because then I have to redo the analysis when new data comes in. I have seen Heap improving over time and have even spoken with their Design team to request some features, however, I would like to see them improve quicker here on some basic features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to understand if our development efforts are obtaining the results we expect. Learn where drop-off is, where to devote attention, what's working, etc. These benefits are invaluable. It takes conversations from, "Well I heard from X that they liked the new feature", to "Y users tried it out, but only Z came back the next week."
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are a lean team that needs insights quick, Heap is a no-brainer choice. For 30 minutes of a developer's time you can get a firehouse of data you can likely sit back and ingest for years. Spend time wit your developer's on features and improvements to the user experience, not defining tracking events.

    Computer Software

Powerful, customizable tool to gain deep insights on user actions

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love being able to create segments, custom events, and then being able to drill down to the user level to discover which users are having problems
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a bit of a steep learning curve at first, but once you get set up, it's pretty intuitive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Definitely being able to go back and retroactively define events, segments, funnels, etc. has been huge.

The event visualizer makes tracking extremely easy

  • November 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The event visualizer! It makes it very easy to determine usage and identify who are power users.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how we can't have a heat map of a certain page
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm figuring out which features are successes and which are failures. It helps inform prioritization with data vs. just anecdotal user feedback.
