HEAP is Analytics made easy

  • August 30, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Virtually code-free implementation of analytics. As a non-tech user, I can easily configure events & set up dashboards for analysis our our product at a glance. It's the first few tabs I open each day in my browser.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing much to dislike. I think accessing the HEAP Dashboard on mobile is not currently available? If basic pages like the dashboard (view only perhaps) can also be accessed through a web app it can be pretty useful when we are on the go.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Studying user interactions with our platform. Insight into user bottlenecks where we can work with users to improve design. What we learn through HEAP can guide our development work, so we don't build blind.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just get started. It's fuss-free and easy to start & keep continue using

Awesome data analysis tool!

What do you like best about the product?
The best feature is that it tracks all historical customer information even for events that you don't specifically define. It is also very powerful when you development team starts to input in server side and customer events.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is alittle bit limited in how you can do more complex analysis of the data within the heap platform. Its perfect for most teams but at ver advance levels you need to export the data to a new database to run complex queries.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for full funnel analysis and optimization. It has helped point out key drop off spots. We also use it to track our optimizely a/b test groupings and analyze how a/b tests are performing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Heap has a great support team for our account. They are always very response and we share a slack channel with them to communicate.

Easy to use for anyone

What do you like best about the product?
I love the event visualizer which made it so intuitive to use for a designer like me. Defining events took seconds instead of asking another team member to do it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't think of anything that I didn't like about heap
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're making data informed decisions when looking to improve our product.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely recommend it if you want to save time and enable more employees to build out the analytics

Heap is great, but not very user friendly.

  • August 29, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Heap has a unique way of tracking usage which is easy to setup and manage but requires some personnel training to get a hang of.
What do you dislike about the product?
The way dashboards are presented is not very flexible in terms of viewing options and modeling and the fact that data always seems skewed at the start of every period is a bit annoying
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to track actual usage on platforms with little setup time and reasonable learning curve

Very very good

What do you like best about the product?
Heap allows you to go in depth about data analysis. The best feature is that it allows to analyze data coming both from iOS and Web in one place
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was a feature that allows to test and to store the event better. It’s complicated to manage a lot of saved events
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are analyzing our e-commerce data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would make it easier to store the events and catalog them. The testing phase and ability to create events by the marketing team would need to be improved also.

Simple to start getting the most out of our data

  • August 29, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Heap is super simple to implement. If this is done you already get a lot of data which then can be used to filter, group, sort and work with. It’s perfect for our SaaS application. We see what customers are using the most and how they use our app.
What do you dislike about the product?
All the data that comes in can be a little overwhelming at the beginning. But after playing around you get used to it real quick.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting all the data we need to improve the features of our app which most of our users use.

Great retroactive insights

  • August 29, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that it starts tracking each and every event from the get go. We can start analyzing the past data just by creating reports of any trackable event. Other products need us to set up the events to start with if we want to track them, but Heap tracks it all automatically in the background.
What do you dislike about the product?
There needs to be ample training on the product, and a platform for the users to collaborate an share their learnings. There are a lot of features that we may not know unless we get into a training program.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We track customer conversions through funnels. Also, we use it to substantiate our analysis on the user behavior and pain points.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The product is great if you like to track the website traffic!

Great product insights and customer support

  • August 29, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's great that non-engineers can do most of the heavy-lifting for any new analytics that we want to see. The automatically captured data means we don't have to wait for an engineer to free up or data to be collected. Everything is done in the background until we want to pull analytics.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some nuances between different methods of counting that require referencing documentation or reaching out to support to confirm that my interpretation is correct.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making product decisions that are data-driven quickly. We no longer need to sacrifice speed for due diligence.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Instead of trying to understand all aspects and features of Heap, just start with one question. You can continue to build out events and definitions in Heap when they become useful to your product questions.

Easy to use, dashboards and funnels easy and fast to configure. Script performance should be better.

  • August 29, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the flexibility it has related to configuration and integration. Sending events, creating funnels, viewing data that helps to take a business decision is quite easy even for those that are not very familiar with analytics tools, and are not the ones that analyze data.
What do you dislike about the product?
The client SDK, the script that engineers need to integrate on a web site, could be better in terms of performance optimization. On e-commerces, every second, every millisecond counts and impacts on conversion, as well as parsing and execution time of the script. It would be an amazing tool if that could be optimized considering best practices.
Also the backend API could be at the same level than the client SDK, so we can use heap within backend.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly for tracking and analyze impact on conversion.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
- Very easy to use
- Not very performant, so keep asking for improvements on this, so your site speed load time doesn't get impacted too much

Good idea poor execution

  • August 29, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the potential that Heap offers. I feel like I could learn a lot about my audience through Heap.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how hard it is to find the answers to the questions I have about my audience. Heap seems to offer large insight but it feels almost impossible to access that insight in a way that's easy to process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to track our sales funnel with Heap and track active users. We have nailed down an easy way to track active users but our funnel is much harder to see on Heap.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend creating an easier to use UX that's approachable to more people. The data available through Heap is great but it's incredibly hard to find the right data in the right way.
