You don't need to be a data expert to get a lot out of this tool

  • July 17, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to set up, simple to understand, very powerful tool. Heap made data analysis fun. I was able to understand exactly how my product was performing on a minute by minute basis
What do you dislike about the product?
You should be able to view different queries side by side
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to see user-level data has been an absolute game changer.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
worth it.

Heap is integral to my company's product development process

  • July 17, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to gather retroactive event data on the fly has enabled me to evaluate features more quickly than I thought possible. Heap has enabled my team to drastically reduce the length of our product development cycles.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally I get stuck looking for data on a session where it's not available but most of the time I can quickly find the information I'm looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap has enabled my team to iterate over and improve features more quickly than ever before and has become central to our evaluation of a feature's success or failure.

Powerful tool for meaningful insights into user interactions, conversions and more

  • July 17, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Overall, I think it's a powerful tool, that has a ton of valuable insights. It's super easy to set up event tracking (unlike Google Analytics), and you once you "define" these events you'll get all the historical data, not just the data moving forward.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because Heap has so much data, it's difficult to manage unless you have someone or a team dedicated to managing it full time. It's also difficult to get away from GA, since so many users are already familiar with its functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Again, it's super easy to set up events, and track conversions within Heap, and the historical metrics are fantastic. I wish we had more time to spend with it to realize its full potential.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Create a data strategy before you implement Heap, including KPIs and any other meaningful analytics for your organization, and assign one person or a team to managing the account.

aggregating and segmenting site visitor data for adquick.com

  • July 17, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
the visualization are better than any other system, there's great ease of use, and it empowers others in the organization to distill information and share it. i also love that it collects all past data, it's like a data vacuum cleaner that i can sort thru later when i need it
What do you dislike about the product?
the UI can get cluttered, especially when i change events that i'm tracking and want to clean them up. there doesn't seem to be a good UI for static data (not sure the best term) rather than paths. basically if i want to show number of visitors with specific user attributes that visited a single page in the past week i'm not sure the best way to show that view.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
unifying KPIs, A/B testing, making data driven decisions

Fast setup, amazing flexibility

  • July 17, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The second after you add the pixel you’re tracking most of what you need.
Having backwards tracking for stuff I just realized I need.
The slack channel
The conversion rate comparison feature
What do you dislike about the product?
Some reports take forever to show results, let me fire them and use browser notifications to tell
Me when they’re ready OR give me a heads up in advance “this report is going to take a long time, shorten the date range or remove one group by criteria to make it faster”
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deep dive on a/b test results
Preventing User errors at checkout
Popularity of features
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don’t use GTM for loading the pixel, you’ll be missing bounce counts.

Quickest way to site behavior insights!

  • July 17, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to go back and get data from Heap, even if I may have forgotten to instrument an event in the past. With minimal partnership from our dev team, we are able to gather data on everything we need to evaluate our product.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find myself using the Database interaction more than the in-app reporting so that I can refine my insights better. The Path feature is also confusing to use and could use a little more work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been solving our customer behavior flow questions, so by using insights from Heap, we are able to effectively make decisions at key points in our development process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great if you can partner with a Data Scientist if you are not comfortable with SQL. Otherwise, the reports you can make within heap are more high level.

Some features of google analytics are missing on heap

  • July 17, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The possibility of getting old events without having to tag the site. On projects that the site changes a lot its easy to see the past events with no tagging. Very good for the developers team
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no integration with google adwords for public share, and also the metrics like bounce rate, and time on site its missing and are very important metrics to analyze the session qualitiy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest issue we are solving with heap is the funnels of the site flows getting past data without having to tag all the website. Also we can follow the behavior of one users in fact, what its not possible on G.A
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Heap its a nice tool, but its not an single tool for analytics. You still have to use google analytics for other uses. But for funnels its the best tool i ever used.

My secret weapon - What Google Analytics should have been

  • July 17, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Heap, combined with segment is my secret weapon (especially for SaaS). It is what. What Google Analytics should have been. Easy to understand, full control over your reports, ability to drill down in any data point.
At the moment it's the only tool on the market who can track all events (clicks/form submits/page visits) without having to define events beforehand.
What do you dislike about the product?
It only has strict funnels, meaning it won't measure people in funnel step 3 if they didn't also go through step 2.
It misses some of the powerful reports of competitors, like "If a user does event X so many times that's ideal for increasing your retention"
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Improve SaaS products , i.e. increase retention, improve onboarding, help decide on which roadmap themes to do next.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
No brainer. Start with Heap, consider adding mixpanel / amplitude / etc later.

Product Manger friendly web analytics tool

  • July 17, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
* The flexibility to be define the metrics to track post development in the platform
* Live view section, that allows to play around and define metrics on the fly.
What do you dislike about the product?
* Issues with tracking components inside i-frames. Gets really tough
* Better way to choose events from a long list of events (especially in a case when heap is used across varied modules of a product)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
* Track the usage about section and variants of the product.
* Help us finalize useful variants vs the less useful ones.
* Better understand user cohorts
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Product managers who need a web analytics tool, please go for Heap and you would love it. Saves a lot of time.

It's nice to be able to just track everything, but I'm finding data analysis quite limited

  • July 17, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really love the almost zero-effort involved in setting up the library and the fact that I don't have to do anything to track new events
What do you dislike about the product?
I would really like to be able to create a report that shows a metric (say weekly purchases) and to be able to compare it with the same metric on a different time range. This would be very useful to have a graph that shows my sales this month and contrast them with last year's sales on the same month.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it for monitoring how my customers consume my service. I have a dashboard where I put all the relevant charts that reflect the health of my service.
