Dropbox to OneDrive switch

  • September 21, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Dropbox is a nice free piece of software to use via web or mobile app. The free version, which I used in the past, doesn’t allow as much space as OneDrive. I also like the fact that OneDrive coordinates and works with other Microsoft items.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don’t like the small, limited space Dropbox allows. I prefer the “more space” offered with OneDrive because the space limit can be reached fast if you use it frequently. I also do not like the fact that I can’t collaborate with other Microsoft items like One Drive – Dropbox is independent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dropbox originally solved the issues of collaboration of documents, sharing documents for others to access, and uploading photos from site visits in the construction industry. I enjoyed using Dropbox until I reached my space limit (which happened fast).

DROPBOX SOFTWARE

What do you like best about the product?
I occasionally use my laptop, occasionally go into the office, and occasionally all three. It is wonderful to not have to worry about having the most recent version of files available thanks to Dropbox. When I knew I'd be working somewhere else in the past, I had to send myself the most recent versions of spreadsheets by email. By choosing which files you want kept on your hard drive and which ones you want stored solely in the cloud, the Smart Sync is a fantastic method to preserve disc space. A problem I was having with Windows search not being able to identify the file names of files saved exclusively in the cloud has just been resolved; now searching for file names of files stored locally is possible.
What do you dislike about the product?
The major drawback of dropbox for business is how much more expensive it is than its two main rivals, Google Drive and OneDrive. It's unfortunate because many little details simply appear to be better executed on Dropbox. It can be tricky to get around a proxy server at work, a problem that has improved but is still present (especially with antiquated proxies). This is one of those issues that can actually render a programme useless because you quickly come to rely on it, and if it breaks down, you could easily lose a day's worth of work without realising it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I utilise Dropbox for a variety of academic needs. I advise my students to make use of the free version to support their assignments and work together on group research projects.

Using Dropbox From 5+ years

  • September 01, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like a lot of things about Dropbox, but here are my top 3:

File syncing and sharing. Dropbox is one of the best ffile-syncing and sharing services out there. It's easy to use and reliable, and it allows you to share files with anyone, no matter where they are in the world.
Security. Dropbox takes security seriously. Your files are encrypted both in transit and at rest, and Dropbox has a number of features to help you protect your data, such as two-factor authentication and file version history.
Ease of use. Dropbox is very easy to use. The interface is simple and intuitive, and it's easy to find the files you need. Dropbox also has a number of integrations with other popular apps, making it even easier to use.
Here are some other things I like about Dropbox:

It's available on all major platforms, so you can access your files from anywhere.
It has a generous free plan, so you can try it out without having to commit to anything.
It offers a variety of paid plans to fit your needs.
It has a good customer support team.
Overall, I think Dropbox is a great cloud storage service. It's reliable, secure, easy to use, and affordable. If you're looking for a cloud storage service, I highly recommend Dropbox.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have any major complaints about Dropbox, but here are a few things I don't like as much:

The free plan is limited. The free plan only gives you 2GB of storage, which is not much. If you need more storage, you have to pay for a subscription.
The upload speed can be slow. If you're uploading large files, the upload speed can be slow, especially if you have a slow internet connection.
The UI can be a bit cluttered. The Dropbox UI can be a bit cluttered, especially if you have a lot of files.
The mobile app can be buggy. The Dropbox mobile app can be a bit buggy at times. I've had some issues with it crashing or not syncing properly.
Overall, I think Dropbox is a great cloud storage service. It's reliable, secure, easy to use, and affordable. However, there are a few things I don't like as much about it. If you're looking for a cloud storage service, I would still recommend Dropbox, but be aware of these limitations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dropbox solves a number of problems, including:

File loss or corruption. Dropbox keeps your files safe and secure in the cloud, so you don't have to worry about losing them if your computer crashes or your hard drive fails.
File sharing. Dropbox makes it easy to share files with others, no matter where they are in the world. This can be helpful for collaborating on projects, sending presentations, or sharing photos and videos.
Backup and recovery. Dropbox can be used to back up your important files, so you can restore them if they're lost or corrupted.
Access to files from anywhere. Dropbox lets you access your files from any device with an internet connection. This can be helpful if you need to work on a file from home or on the go.
Collaboration. Dropbox makes it easy to collaborate on files with others. You can share files, edit them in real time, and leave comments.

What do you like best about the product?
Dropbox is so useful when your entire team is not in the same building. Allows me to share creative material with my team without having a million emails.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it was more user friendly for the older generation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My team was trying to share photos for creative material but the files were too large for an email. So I suggested using Drop Box as it works on all computers and you can send full size photos without losing quality.
