Not always seeing the thumbnails for files and images if they are special things like - embroidery files.

Effortless File Sync and Sharing, But Learning Tips Could Be Simpler

  • October 30, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of Use: The interface is clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate. Uploading, organizing, and sharing files is a smooth process, even when dealing with large folders.

File Synchronization: Synchronization across devices is one of Dropbox’s greatest strengths. Updates happen almost instantly, ensuring your files are always up to date.

Sharing and Collaboration: Sharing files or folders is straightforward, and the permission settings are flexible, allowing you to control who can view or edit your content. Integration with tools like Microsoft Office and Google Workspace further enhances team productivity.

Security and Reliability: Dropbox offers robust security features, such as two-step verification and file recovery options. I feel reassured knowing my data is securely stored and backed up in the cloud.

Storage and Performance: Upload and download speeds are consistently fast and reliable. Even large files sync quickly, making Dropbox suitable for professional use. The Smart Sync feature is particularly helpful for saving space on your computer while maintaining access to all your files.

Mobile App: The mobile app is just as efficient, making it easy to preview documents, photos, or PDFs while on the move. Offline access is especially useful when traveling.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dropbox’s free storage is quite limited, with only 2 GB available on the basic plan. This is significantly less than what competitors like Google Drive, which offers 15 GB, or MEGA, which provides 20 GB, give to their users. For most people, this small amount of space is quickly used up, making it almost necessary to upgrade to a paid plan sooner rather than later.

When it comes to pricing, Dropbox is known for being secure and reliable, but its paid subscriptions are relatively costly. Other services often provide more storage or additional features for a similar price. For instance, the individual “Plus” plan is about €12 per month for 2 TB of storage, whereas Google One or Microsoft 365 tend to offer better value, especially with their integrated applications.

In terms of file management, Dropbox’s interface is straightforward and easy to use, but it lacks some advanced organizational tools. Features like tagging, color labels, or more detailed sorting options are missing, which can make managing a large number of files less efficient.

Another consideration is that Dropbox does not offer full end-to-end encryption. While your files are encrypted both during transfer and while stored, Dropbox still has the technical ability to access your data if required for security or legal reasons.

The mobile app is reliable for viewing and sharing files, but it falls short when it comes to editing documents. Compared to Google Drive or Office apps, Dropbox’s mobile experience is less versatile for creating or making significant changes to files.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simplification of sharing with clients big files

Easy Setup, Needs More Features in Pro Version

  • October 30, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Dropbox's capability to allow document uploads for public viewing while providing the option to disable downloads, enhancing privacy control. This feature is especially beneficial as it alleviates the need for constant monitoring by allowing documents to expire at a preset time, which I find incredibly convenient and reassuring. The easy setup process of Dropbox was another factor that influenced my decision to continue using it, as it was straightforward and user-friendly. Additionally, I considered using Google Drive but ultimately chose Dropbox because it offers more functionalities and better privacy protection, which are critical for my needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am dissatisfied with the pro version of Dropbox as it does not offer as many features as I would have liked. Despite having a premium subscription, the limitations in features compared to my expectations have been a letdown. Additionally, I find the current file sharing URL feature lacking because it doesn’t allow for creating custom URLs. Consequently, I have to use third-party services like tinyurl.com to shorten links, which is inconvenient and adds an unnecessary step.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find Dropbox allows me to share documents publicly while controlling download access and setting expiration dates, removing the need for constant monitoring.

Reliable File Sharing with Room for Improvement

  • October 30, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have been using Dropbox for over ten years and find it highly useful for storing audiovisual content that I create. Dropbox's ability to function as central storage ensures I always have access to my files, even without my computer. It has effectively replaced my need for USB hard drives with its ease of file sharing. The possibility to share Dropbox links with others is a feature I use frequently, favoring it over other services like WeTransfer. I also appreciate the camera upload feature on my smartphone, which seamlessly integrates and automatically uploads my photos to Dropbox. The platform's reasonable pricing makes it even more appealing, coupled with its ease of use and stability. Dropbox works almost always flawlessly, which enhances my overall experience and trust in the service.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it was initially challenging to get Dropbox to work across different devices, like my personal Mac computer and a Windows laptop at work. Although I managed to overcome this difficulty, I feel that the setup process might still be complicated for people who are not as comfortable with technology and computers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dropbox solves my file sharing issues by allowing easy link sharing and acts as a central storage, replacing USB drives. It's reliable and easy to use, with automatic uploads from my smartphone ensuring access even when I'm without my computer.

Easy to use and share large audio files

  • October 30, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it lets me share very large audio recordings. It's easy to use as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the free version had a larger memory allowance. Also wish other people didn't have to create a dropbox account to listen to my linked file in my dropbox.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When I record a talk it lets me share my recording of it with my friends who couldn't make it, even when the talk is an hour or longer.
