Great for self assessment and establishing foundational skills

What do you like best about the product?
DISCLAIMER: I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review

The best part about Udacity programs are the short and repetitive videos and practice exercises, and how they gradually build upon each other starting from super basic to more complex. Some professional development courses are just long-winded videos that make you sleepy; most Udacity lessons are a dozen or two 1-2 minute videos followed by a practice exercise about it. So your attention doesn't wander off all the time, and it is very easy to take a break or pick it back up the next day.
What do you dislike about the product?
The least helpful are the times when the video doesn't perfectly explain how to do a problem, or the wording of questions are vague and you have to ask for clarity in the middle of a lesson. But the large majority of the time, the lessons move along smoothly. Also, not all final project reviewers are totally thorough in their critiques. Most of the time they were, but once or twice I had errors or incomplete portions, and just the section with something wrong was highlighted, not what was wrong about it, so I had to ask again for clarity or figure it out myself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have realized that from completing my nanodegree program, there are other tools out there I can use on the job. I am an accountant/financial analyst and did the Business Analyst Nanodegree (BAND), and discovered Tableau can sometimes be a great supplemental tool for visualizing & displaying data versus always using Excel. The material is very entry level for all programs, so you can't expect to do this and be a wizard when you're done, or to claim you now qualify for a promotion or get a new job. The point of this level program is to get a 1st wave of exposure to Excel, Tableau and SQL, and find out whether it is worth taking more classes or nanodegrees to become an expert later. In my case, Excel and Tableau are but SQL not so much. But it is still good to have the "kindergarten level" exposure to it in case you ever have to see or hear about it at work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Know what you should expect to get out of it before purchasing. If you think taking one nanodegree will make you an expert (like some promotional materials imply), you will be disappointed. This is great for learning something for the 1st time & getting the fundamentals down, with feedback from experts available as you go. It is also good for finding out what you're not good at or what is not interesting. You don't want to go down a long expensive degree path only to find out it's not for you.

Excellent learning platform for tech skills

  • June 29, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The courses are updated frequently to meet ever-changing technologies. The lessons are concise and easy to understand by beginners with no prior knowledge. The mentors are empathetic and willing to provide assistance. The student projects are well reviewed by an expert and reviewers usually share comments and suggestions with students. Students have access to the courses after completion of the Nanodegree (ND).
What do you dislike about the product?
The new subscription model comes with higher fees. I paid less than $500 for React ND in 2017 and completed the program in 3 months plus. With the new subscription model, students would have to pay over a $1000 for such.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Udacity has paid and free programs, I constantly use the platform to learn new skills and brush up existing ones. After completing the React ND program in 2017, I got a new job opportunity using the technology.

NB: I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Excellent learning platform to learn the latest tech skills to propel your career forward

What do you like best about the product?
Responsive community of TAs and mentors. Resume building and career counseling options are very handy as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's best in class among all other e-learning platforms. Nothing to dislike so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm working as a Data Scientist at ARAMEX. I studied Deep Learning at Udacity and it opened the doors to advanced independant study in the same field. I'm now leading projects independently and Udacity certainly has contributed to it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are trying to break into new technologies such as Self-driving cars, AI and Digital Marketing and are hesitant, then don't be. Confidently enrol for one of their programs and be sure that you will learn enough to get you started in your area of interest.

Good platform for learning new technologies

  • June 29, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ability to learn edge technologies, especially I love school of autonomous systems. Easy to learn material, a lot of practice, tricky questions. Very good free courses, that allow to refresh knowledge or get familiar with new technology in a week.
What do you dislike about the product?
ML nanodegree sometimes was stupidly easy and it felt like I was wasting my time. I was upset because free courses were much more challenging with more practical lessons and deeper math.
Some nanodegrees has optional and challenging tasks, these tasks are the most interesting, because I have to dive deeper and search information by my own, often it is not covered by a course lessons. And I want to get some feedback from reviewer about these tasks to check if I did them correctly, but reviewers never give feedback about the optional topics.
Slack for flying car nanodgree was amazing with all industry news stuff, students discussions etc. It allowed to dive into the industry and get a lot of additional information and help. Modern community is not so good and exists mostly to answer on questions about the nanodegree projects.
I see some tendency to reduce difficulty of nanodegree programs because a lot of students are unprepared for a level required to understand a course material. But I want to get deep knowledge learning a high-quality course I don't want pay for a wikipedia-level course.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Refreshing math, learning new technologies
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Read nanodegree program reviews carefully to avoid paying for useless material. Be ready for challenging questions and digging into math if you want to get deep knowledge. Always check pre-requisites of the course, sometimes the course may take a lot of time and the situation may get worse if you need to learn programming language or other fundamentals additionally.

I like the projects system, the reviewers are usually give helpful tips and tricks
What do you dislike about the product?
The videos leave so much to desire, but they replenish that with giving ng other resources to check for more in depth content
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am more comfortable and confident with my data science knowledge.

I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They show you requirements for each nanodegree; pay attention to that to finish the course at the required time

'Android Basics' nano-degree: learnt how to make Android Apps using Android Studio IDE

  • June 29, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You have to pass 10 coding assessments to complete the course and get your certificate of completion (mine just to show I've got one is here - . https://confirm.udacity.com/R4CWUJLV ). This means you produce work of a good standard you can show an employer (via your github account or on a website).
Support is good during a course - post up a problem on the relevant course area and get someone providing valuable help (typically with projects) within a few hours (often within minutes).
The course also covers most of what a new android developer would need to learn - the scope really is quite wide (so multiple screens, audio, JSON etc etc). The course also leads nicely, with the completion of the Android Basics nano-degree training, to then put you in a pole position to start the 'Android Developer' nano-degree. The whole training path is really well thought out, with considerable input from Google, too.

“I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review" - Udacity advised me to add the above text, which is fairly typical of them - I've done 2 nano-degrees with them so far and have not encountered any bad or dishonest dealings with them - obviously this is important.
What do you dislike about the product?
The course pushed my knowledge of Java (SE8 now I think), but that's how we learn. The course didn't really have any bad things as far as I was concerned, but it was hard work towards the end - though it was genuinely interesting seeing how things were done (and problems avoided). You use Android Studio IDE which is a hefty (and free) IDE - I found it impossible to use on a NetBook, but on a decently powerful PC it was easy to use and keep updated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Their nano-degree tracks are aimed at getting people a job at the end of it. They aim at doing things in the real world. Be clear before you specialise where you want to go (e.g. autonomous vehicle developer, android, front-end or full-stack web developer etc). They run good specialist interview courses etc, which help too. Even if you don't practice as a developer, the many skills learned provide much utility in the non-technical workplace.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Decide what you want to do when you graduate - the nano-degree tracks are usually very specific.

    E-Learning

Great for solo learners who want a mix of video instruction and example projects.

  • June 29, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The projects and their reviews. Those really helped solidify my learning and best prepared me for applying these skills in a real world job scenario.

Full disclosure: I think the programs are a bit pricey for my current financial situation, as such I'm writing this review to receive a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program course of study at Udacity. So, that at least proves that it's a good enough service to leave me wanting to continue using it for learning.
What do you dislike about the product?
The sometimes confusing and overwhelming community communication system. They've experimented with email, student hub, slack, and forums for collaborating with others and it can sometimes be hard to tell which one to use to talk to the right person about whatever issue you have. (Albeit, I completed my program before the mentor system was in place. It's quite possible that this aspect has improved significantly since then.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Turning my self study of coding and programming knowledge into a more focused and real world tangible projects was the best part about the program. Plus having others look at your code and give you pointers and suggestions from the project reviews was an invaluable benefit that helped my personal growth tremendously. The alumni network is expansive too! You'll be surprised how many fellow graduates work at the companies you'll be interested in later.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you are ready to follow deadlines and be self motivated. Some topics are difficult and help is available, but not always right away. So be patient when reaching out to the community and team for help. All the course content is well put together and easy to follow along with, although you may need to search for some updates from older courses as technology does change all the time and something that was true 6 years ago, might not be today. Taking the newest courses would be the best bet.
