Cisco Umbrella Offers Excellent DNS/URL Filtering
What do you like best about the product?
The configuration of setting up policies is pretty straightforward. We have a blocklist that we can add OSINT URL's to that boost protection on top of what it already protects us from.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much I can say about what I don't like. The product is relatively inexpensive. Once it's set up, you can set it -and forget it if you want and still receive substantial protection from malicious sites.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cisco Umbrella filters all websites our users go to, so even if they accidentally click on a bad link in an email, Umbrella will block it before they ever go to the site.

A powerful DNS proxy easy to install
What do you like best about the product?
Easy installation process. Powerful DNS filtering, possibility to yse Firewalal in the cloud. Auto-redirection of gray domains to the smart proxy. No need to use PCAp files anymore.
What do you dislike about the product?
User must not be machine administrator. Users can still surf using Ip adresses. Gray domains redirection is not as transparent as possible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Secure web surf with native DNS filtering, Protect users' machines outside the company network. Protect remote users. Malware detection on DNS level
Exactly as the name says, a security umbrella over your company IT devices
What do you like best about the product?
Cloud-based DNS security is the best thing anyone could have. We like that the interface is very intuitive and the L7 firewall can block many spurious and non-approved applications as well as peer-to-peer file sharing and torrenting from happening in the office or on any office computers.
What do you dislike about the product?
We actually liked the fact that Cisco has provided a lot of training materials and has live webinars every so often. The detailed documentation available on Cisco's website has helped us understand how to leverage the DNS security to the fullest.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Internet security and monitoring of data is the issue that Cisco Umbrella is solving for us. Its tight integration with Meraki security appliance and L3 switches also helps us a lot.

MInimal/no detail of threat reporting, logs update every hour, phone support non-existent for MSPs, UI could use some work. Changes took time to cycle in. DDNS agent is clunky at best and a pain to seutp for multiple non-related sites

Decent Software Hamstrung by a Few Huge Flaws
What do you like best about the product?
Cisco Umbrella adds a layer of DNS-based protection from malware and phishing attacks. The roaming client software allows for remote systems to always be protected.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a very big problem that prevents Windows 10 from detecting an active Internet connection. This causes the systems to report to the user that no Internet connection is available and prevents some apps, most notably Microsoft Outlook from functioning. Customer support is very sub-par.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cisco Umbrella helps provide an additional layer of protection against all malware, but Crypto-malware in particular. Basic web filtering can also be implemented for customers who need very broad filtering applied.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Test thoroughly on a subset of systems before deploying to all computers.
Cisco Umbrella: Cloud DNS filtering that is consistent
What do you like best about the product?
The fact you can protect an entire network in minutes, with the ability to deploy agents to remote devices easily. Policies can be set up for each type of network and device as needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
IT BLOCKS EVERYTHING.... Until you allow it, that is. The log analytics stream in real-time, but I would recommend a full audit before putting it in production.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Umbrella to filter all traffic on several remote locations and windows tablets. We also us it to find out of any strange networking or malware traffic on our networks.
Simple and secure
What do you like best about the product?
The simpleness of implementation. Can be as easy as changing where your DNS points to.
What do you dislike about the product?
Have not encountered a downside yet. We are 3 months into the contract and have had no issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Protection our assets with prevention at the DNS layer. This has quickly identified where there may be some systems calling out with malware that we may not have seen otherwise.
