What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use interface and implement in a microservice based architecture. I have been using it for a few months and I am able to appreciate the vast amount of features it provides to ease the entire software development process.
What do you dislike about the product?
While there aren't many things I dislike about the Kong API Gateway, the documentation, migration and upgrades are a few pain points
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Kong API Gateway solves a multitude of problems that greatly benefit me and many others in the tech world. Firstly, it streamlines the process of managing APIs by acting as a central hub for controlling, securing, and monitoring all API traffic. This resolves the issue of dealing with disparate systems and simplifies the overall API management process. Moreover, Kong Gateway enhances security by providing robust authentication, authorization, and encryption features. This helps in safeguarding sensitive data and preventing unauthorized access, ensuring compliance with various security standards and regulations. Additionally, Kong Gateway optimizes performance by offloading tasks like rate limiting, caching, and load balancing, thereby improving the overall speed and reliability of API interactions. What do you like best about the product?
We've had to contact support in the past with upgrade issues who were really helpful and responsive to the questions and issues we had at the time. Overall kong has been really nice to use for scaling out to our needs with us not noticing any performance decreases over peak load.
What do you dislike about the product?
Using kong with terraform seems to be missing some features and the terraform docs could be a little more clear with more outputs/attributes listed. However, it seems moving away from terraform might be the better solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've found the monitoring side of kong super helpful in the past and relatively easy to integrate into logstash

Kong gateway provides ready to use api gateway solutions that helps with all essential requirements like load balance, routing, rate limiting and authentication etc.

High availability, High scale, lightweight, easy to customize, and multiple deploy mode.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of programming support (Just native with Lua). Must improve the monitoring function of commerce products. The integration with external monitoring systems is still not stable.

The best one is to get a single view and wider window of analysis It helps in giving diffrent persona to diffrent security aspects.

Some p99 latency are not that accurate.More statistical techniques can be used to estimate.

It helps in analysis and planning for the upcoming quaters about diffrent API security policies
Kong: The easiest tool for managing a network
What do you like best about the product?
Kong is a highpowered and highly customizeable Nginx service which has been given a lot of attention when it was being created. Kong has some of the best documentation of any application I've ever deployed. Kong also offers lots of options when it comes to configuration, setting up configurations is super easily with the provided DecK tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Kong is just an application designed to get you to pay for the advanced featues. Authentication plugins should not be a paid for premium feature and should be available for all.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Microservices and endpoint management when done through Nginx raw configurations. Having simple configurations wich allow you to deploy services saves many headaches.

Kong API gateway has delivers great performance along with all the core desired features, the documentation is awesome along with great community + customer support. Its easy to integrate and use across environments.
Its easy to implement in a distributed microservice setup. It scales well with high frequency usage.

Open source issue prioritization can be made even better in collaboration with the community.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Addresses cross cutting concerns across the microservices wrt API management, tools like insomnia provide a great expereince for API design.
