Great tool for API call verification

  • November 10, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As a non-programmer myself having a GUI tool that helps be verify that everything works before handing it to the customer is a big plus, no awkward moments of something non-working by a typo or a syntax error, if something is wrong I can ask for help from our engineers or fix it myself since the error messages are so easy to read
What do you dislike about the product?
API calls sometimes depends on the browser and many other factors I use it as a "no obvious errors" checkmark but our QA team does a bunch of tests before making sure it works, our engineers and me are only users of the API. Using Postman is a really cool tool but is not enough for a developer
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a delivery manager, my main role is to deliver the service and explain it to our customers. I sometimes get ask technical questions and how to use the Meraki API that we use, Postman helps me understand and explain the use of our products without having to always resort to more technical focused people
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's not hard to use even if you are not a programmer or an engineer, learn the basics, and even if you are not able to write an API call you'll be able to understand it with no issues

Best API testing tool

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Postman is super simple and easy to pick up quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
For a very beginner to APIs it can be a little difficult to understand the terms used within the software but I don’t think that would be Postman’s target customer
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Whenever I’m utilizing an API for the first time I always use postman to run the testing and get a feel for what kinds of responses I can get. It cuts down a lot of the time it takes to figure out authentication and sets me up for success when authenticating on my own.

A great tool to test, validate, and deploy your APIs

  • November 08, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Postman is very simple to use. You can easily run REST API calls, pass in variables in various formats (query string, request header, body, etc), set it as a Get, Post, Put, etc. You can also export your API setup to easily install onto another computer or share with a co-worker.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally on Windows 10 Postman won't open. But that usually means that the version I had was too old, so I just needed to update.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed to consume API calls from other companies, and validate that the data I receive is what I expect. Before Postman, I had to build a program to run the calls. Postman is so much quicker and easier to perform these tasks. It even gives you code snippets that you can use to paste into your code to let you consume APIs quicker!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it. You won't regret it.

- Sharing collection of api with cross functional team is pricelessly simple, it is very powerful feature of postman.
- It has facility to add teams members and continuously sync what one has in his postman collection.
- Talking about api testing is supersonic fast in postman .
What do you dislike about the product?
Threre is nothing much to dislike about postman however few point that can improved are

1. No auto formatting option in raw data posting.
2. Could have an inbuild pdf export feature to create report.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It saves time and energy to test apis before actually using them into project. Big beneifts with it is testing of api collection atonce.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its a powerful too to have for development. I strongly recommend postman for api testing.

Postman is a great ad hoc API test tool

  • November 06, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is a simple interface to test a web API. You can even share libraries of endpoints with coworkers too. We sometimes use it to run automated sets of calls to check stability. The application is fast and responsive and never seems to cause workflow issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
The history of requests tab can get a bit hard to manage and maintain if you are trying to compare multiple calls to the same endpoint.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Web API work can be integration tested while decoupled from a working front end application environment.

Postman is one of the best API testing tools in the market, it is very fast and user-friendly.

What do you like best about the product?
Able to save requests and parameters.
Simple interface.
Sharing with teammates.
Postman is used by various departments who develop and maintain web applications and APIs. It provides an easy-to-use REST client that is also deeply customizable, allowing API endpoints to be tested and debugged with test requests and payloads.
Creating requests - From basic GETs, POSTS, or PUTs, Postman can handle it all with ease. It's very straight forward and consistent to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface can be a little overwhelming and clunky, especially for newer users.
It is geared towards more complex situations, and the controls can be overkill for a simple request.
If you have a tendency to have dozens of browser tabs open, you will be overwhelmed with tabs in Postman as well.
Monitoring test cases - Postman doesn't have a great way to monitor your test cases. You can set them up in Postman, but I'd use an outside tool for monitoring them all.
Postman doesn't natively support web service testing. Again, if you require this, I'd still recommend Postman, just use an outside tool for this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Postman is perfect for testing various HTTP requests with its quick and deep ability for manipulating the headers and payload. This makes it ideal for testing and debugging APIs and even simple web applications. Postman offers various payload types (raw text, JSON, form-data, etc.) and customizable HTTP headers. Requests are sorted into tabs, saved in collections, and recorded into a history -- all of which are helpful, but which can also quickly grow unwieldy if one isn't careful.
