Vanta is a GRC platform with continuous compliance automation and monitoring. Some things normally take us hours to do in terms of pulling screenshots and configuration. Vanta is continuously plugged into an API and reports back to us so that we can save time, effort, and FTE hours.

Vanta makes our SOC2 compliance journey manageable
What do you like best about the product?
The security controls needed for SOC2 compliance was laid out already for us, making it easy for our company to work on the needed requirements. There's also the suggestions that they have on each of the controls, be it as a policy template or a best practice on how to implement AWS GuardDuty on your AWS environment. They also have great customer support service, really helpful and responsive. Whenever we have something that needs clarifications, the customer support is always a click away.
What do you dislike about the product?
Monitoring is sometimes unreliable or not reflecting instantly (i.e remediated vulnerabilities should not be appearing)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sales enablement, most of our client requires us to have compliance attestations/certifications. Vanta helps us streamline the process and shorten the period for us to acquire the attestations/certifications.
There's also the maturing of our security practices. As our Company grows, there's a need to maintain and improve our security posture and Vanta helps us see what are the current gaps that we can address be it in the tooling needed or policies needed to be enforced.

- Cost of add-ons per framework or standard
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had a requirement to become SOC 2 certified in a short period of time and working with a consultancy to help build the framework controls that met our business needs and requirements which then fed into Vanta was a good experience. That's not to say that you couldn't do this yourself, but having someone to help guide you through the process was certainly a value add.

What do you like best about the product?
It helps to stay on top of things daily while taking care of security and privacy rules and prepare for audits
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it refreshes tests slowly and some completed tasks may still show as opened for some period of time, but it's not critical at all, usually everything get resolving during a day or so
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It may look confusing when you just start a business which has to go through the security compliance, byt Vanta makes it much easier by splitting all the activities into several buckets and it's easy to follow once you're properly set up. Also, working with policies and regular tasks/reviews + trainings is much easier with Vanta and its reminders.

It is a great product, saving the company a lot of time (and money). A lot of integrations. A good overview of your compliance.

I have nothing to dislike. Sometimes it is harder to find a way with auditor how to comment to evidence especially for those that you need to upload list at the beginning and audit choose the samples. But we alse figure out how to do that.

Helpful structure for divide & conquer on SOC2 & HIPAA
What do you like best about the product?
Native task management with pre-programmed reminders establish clear accountability and high level visibility into progress against a given framework. This is extremely value add for most frameworks where the volume of requirements & turnover on internal teams can make maintenance just as hard, if not harder, than initial implementation.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't think that it's as strong as a HIPAA-only solution, where frankly the complexity may not be worth the squeeze. But for organizations that are implementing other frameworks, or HIPAA alongside other frameworks, the way that the tool can streamline progressing against multiple frameworks simultaneously through shared controls is extremely intuitive and time-saving.

Vanta provides a single source of truth ensuring our framework requirements are met comprehensively and with clear individual-level ownership.
Easy to use for security and compliance tracking
What do you like best about the product?
Vanta's customer success team has been instrumental in guiding Byteboard through building security and compliance program. Monitoring for compliance progress on SOC2 is easy to view in addition to integrations with project management platforms such as Asana.
What do you dislike about the product?
It'd be valuable to have a built in timeline for path to compliance as tasks and activities tend to live in different places (not centralized outside of tabs in platform).

The interace is really easy to use, the Asana integrations help to push tasks to where our developers and other SMEs work, The dashboards make it really easy to see where things need to be addressed quickly and easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Transitioning from an existing ISMS program and our own set of controls to Vanta was more tricky than using it straight out of the box. It required more analysis to compare policies and documents we had versus what Vanta's best practice documents were. Not a criticism of the platform, but it has made the onboarding a more time intensive experience than it otherwise would have been.

Vanta primarily helps our organization with the SOC 2 and the PCI audits, ensuring we're in compliance full-time without having us do internal audits as frequently.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature of Vanta would be the time savings from the automation and the continuous compliance monitoring once set up.
What needs improvement?
Currently, Vanta's user access review module is still in development, and we've been giving them continuous feedback to help them improve that.

I haven't had any issues with the solution's stability. I rate Vanta a nine out of ten for stability.

How was the initial setup?
Vanta's initial setup is pretty straightforward, but there are a lot of customizations that you need to tailor to your specific environment. It's not out-of-the-box plug-and-play ready. You need pretty heavy customization.
What was our ROI?
We have seen a return on investment with Vanta.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Vanta, we evaluated Drata and OneTrust. We chose Vanta because the Vanta team was the most responsive and had the best pricing.
What other advice do I have?
We are using the latest version of Vanta. Vanta is a cloud-based solution.
Users need to ensure they have absolute buy-in from all the stakeholders. You can't deploy Vanta in a vacuum. You need buy-in from IT, HR, engineering, legal, compliance, etc. Otherwise, it's a very expensive tool to sit on the shelf.
Overall, I rate Vanta an eight out of ten.
