Not too bad
What do you like best about the product?
The interface is clean. Color in the right places and seemingly organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
The overflow of notifications required for the system to work is crazy. If there were more prominent notifications you wouldn't need to rely on the Inbox so much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am subcontracting with a client that uses Asana. I have realized that I just don't like it. I don't know that it's any one thing, just the little things that get to me.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is getting better. I've tried it before when it was just awful but they are getting there. If it works for you, great. I just find myself needing more custom experiences so I go with Podio.
Easy Peasy and Pretty
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is usable for everyone - and I mean that quite literally - it allows users to view projects in their own preference (whether you need to see it as a list, agile board, calendar view, etc), making it the perfect option for my team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that the free version allowed us to create more options in the templates. Some of the restrictions don't make sense, even in a free option!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to see all projects at a glance. The ability to have a master calendar. The ability to identify project tasks, due dates, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is a great tool. It really allows for ease of use and visibility, essentially what the tool is needed for!
Great for cross-team collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
We use Asana for driving transparency across several teams, departments and even companies! It allows everyone to log in and see the same things, add comments and upload documentation, and is easily edited and managed. We love it!
What do you dislike about the product?
We still have to use other things like Jira tickets for internal requests or HubSpot for uploading recorded videos and as a general landing page for each of our clients.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving for one place for all the documents and plans to live so that everyone on our team as well as each of our individual clients are all on track and bought into the same game plan.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a great and easy to use product for even the most novice users! We like that it's easy to use, clean and quick. We still use other platforms for various reasons but Asana makes project management, transparency and collaboration so easy!
Asana: great tool for collaboration and task management
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to keep track of projects and tasks using Asana. This is possible because of the simple, intuitive and well thought out interface.
Another thing I is the great integration with other tools I use, such and Instagantt, Bitbucket and Slack.
I also like the mobile apps, especially the iOS app. They're well built and make tracking my tasks easy.

What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside is the lack of an inbuilt messaging feature, though that can easily be taken care of by integrating Slack.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana to more effectively manage projects and tasks. With Asana, we are able to see all ongoing projects and tasks and get them done in a timely and orderly manner.
Asana also helps make collaboration more effective, especially as it's integrated with Slack.

Asana is ok if you don't have requirements
What do you like best about the product?
There are some things I like about Asana. I like Asana's Kanban, tags, and the copy and paste of tasks. I like that you can add child tasks. I like there's a calendar associated with each project. I think Asana is starting to build out their software and I think they're listening to their end-users.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is not a mature tool by any means. It's fine if you're using it for yourself but I wouldn't recommend introducing Asana to your team. Why?
1. Notification is all or nothing. You can either turn on notifications or you can't. You can't toggle the notifications.
2. Relying on 3rd party for burndown charts. A lot of software project management includes a burndown chart. Asana uses a third-party app, screenful.me. You have to pay for it and it doesn't give clarity into the project's status.
3. Disjointed projects. You cannot see holistically the status of your projects. This means you have to click inside each one.
4. Struggles talking to 3rd party APIs. For some reason there is an initial sync and then the handshake drops. This happened across multiple APIs.
5. If you've used other mature tools then you'll probably struggle using Asana. It doesn't provide enough clarity or detail to be able to make decisions.
6. Very difficult to prioritize tasks. You can move tasks up and down but that's it. You also can't view tasks and subtasks across a project. You can only view the subtasks if the task is open.
7. No automated workflows. Makes no sense as your team has to remember the process for doing X. If you have a lot of teams this can get messy very quickly.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The one business benefit I realized was tool selection criteria needed to be tighter. I wasn't here when Asana was chosen and the tool gets in the way of progress. I inherited the role of admin.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make your PM software selection criteria list tool agnostic. Can't imagine a mature organization ever using this. Might as well use Excel to track your project at this rate.
Keep all your tasks on track with Asana
What do you like best about the product?
I like using Asana all the time for many reasons. It has a great and convenient calendar to put all your required tasks and monitor them. The user interface and design is very decent and colorful which makes it easy to navigate and see all your tasks. Creating tasks is also so easy and there are many templates available to make life more easier for anyone and help the users to manage their goals. Another great feature in using Asana is assigning tasks to team members and track their work which is very useful
What do you dislike about the product?
The mobile app is missing many features that I hope they will add them soon to be as convenient as the web version
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana makes working with tasks easier. It saves a lot of time and effort. I definitely recommend it for everyone.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great platform for task organization and setting goals
Great Product to Keep Your Team Organized
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the interface and the way it allows you to assign tasks to your team members. It's extremely organized and has helped me, not only keep myself on task and organized, but has given me a way to track my teams accomplishments without making them feel micro managed.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the amount of emails the system sends out. Each time you assign a task an individual email with that task is sent out to those assigned. I wish there was a way to group the tasks, so the person being assigned receives one email with all of the tasks grouped together.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were running into issues with my team not knowing what had been accomplished, what needed to be accomplished and what to do next during the work day. Asana has helped organize everyone's work day and it's not only reduced the need for multiple team conference calls each day, but people are happier because they now know what's expected of them each day and it's eliminated team members mistakenly working on the same tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want your team to stay on task, be able to report to your supervisor your teams performance accurately and show the efficiency of your team, then I would definitely recommend Asana.
The definitive tool for project management, collaboration and sharing
What do you like best about the product?
The perfect UX allows to manage every task in the best way possible. Each task can be edited in an appropriate way with several options.
What do you dislike about the product?
The login via Google Account. I would add at least the possibility to have LinkedIn.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Projects management, team management, remote team management
A great tool for collaborative project managers
What do you like best about the product?
I love that Asana uses the PMI standards and the common vocabulary used from project management. Teams with varying level of project management experience are able to quickly get up to speed on the terminology. The task list is great for clarifying specific responsibilities
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana doesn't leave a lot of room for flexibility - especially with projects that are prone to change suddenly in scale or scope.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm often struggling to manage numerous projects at various stages of development with team members that have significantly different levels of involvement. It does a great job of accommodating everyone - from team members that tend to be focused on the granular details of implementation to those that just want to be sure that the project is on track.
Asana was great for personal tracking!
What do you like best about the product?
Great way to update my to-do list. It had a great way of tracking the tasks I wanted quickly and easily with good app support too.
What do you dislike about the product?
I couldn't seem to get others to use it too...low adoption from the team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tasks vs emails -- I was trying to get away from using emails for everything but old habits die hard. The email system is still the best way to address most things unfortunately. Team adoption at the very beginning of a project is likely when this will work best and not after the fact. Project teams will benefit from sharing tasks and taking over tasks easily when required. The issues I had were getting my team to send tasks to the Asana tasks vs emails almost consistently...again, better management and some kind of point system might help people to adopt this better. An incentive perhaps in using the tool, like a give away for the team members that adopt the most features and use the tool the most might help.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Team adoption will be tough but worth it if you can get them there.
