Navigating Workflow Management
What do you like best about the product?
The tool offers a user-friendly solution for managing complex workflows through its intuitive interface. Users can easily create, schedule, and monitor intricate data pipelines, benefiting from enhanced logging and monitoring features. The platform's visual workflow builder simplifies the design of tasks and dependencies, while streamlined connection and secret management ensure secure access to data sources without manual configuration.
What do you dislike about the product?
The platform's ease of use might come with limitations in cases requiring highly customized or unconventional workflow setups. Additionally, Astro's dependency on Astronomer's infrastructure could limit flexibility for specific use cases. While Astro aims to streamline deployment, the intricacies of setting up and managing Airflow clusters could still pose challenges, especially for users less familiar with cloud infrastructure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Astro by Astronomer solves the complexities of workflow management by simplifying task creation, scheduling, and monitoring. Its visual workflow builder enhances task design, while secure connection management improves data source accessibility. Scalability features optimize resource use, and integration with the Astronomer community offers valuable support. Overall, Astro streamlines workflows, saving time and enhancing efficiency.
Getting Aiflow up and running is super easy but a bit pricy
What do you like best about the product?
Astronomer's UI is super intuitive and makes it easier to have multiple separate workspaces and Airflow deployments. This way, each team can have its own Airflow in a few minutes.
Astronomer also has an integrated cloud IDE and the Astro CLI, which increases a lot the development speed.

What do you dislike about the product?
It can be very expensive and smaller companies may not have the budget to afford it. The self-hosted solution can easily increase your AWS monthly bill by USD 1.000,00 with just a few DAGs running. The plan entirely hosted by Astronomer looks like a black box where you don't have much visibility about what is being charged.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Astronomer is making it much easier to get our Airflow deployments up and running. It also speeds up the development of DAGs with its cloud IDE and the astro CLI.
Very early stage product for production
What do you like best about the product?
Not much to be honest. In fact, the only interesting thing is that the infrastructure can scale automatically to run your scheduled jobs.
Also the technical support, if pinged strongly, can dedicate few hours to your issue, even in a meeting where the technical guys are sharing their screen with all the technical details. This is really helpful!
Beside that, on the good feedback, the dev are able to use the product correctly, so all good for that.

What do you dislike about the product?
First, the user interface. It is a bit messy, and the authentication part was weird until very recently.
Second, the monitoring is inexistant. It means you need to implement your own logic to monitor whether or not your job are running properly. There is nothing out of the box. This is a big issue when it comes to production jobs.
Third the user management: you cannot create groups of users and assign a group to a workspace. It's very old-fashion user management, so that when a new dev is hired, you have to add him manually to N workspaces. I'm not kidding...
Fourth: the price, at the beginning it's cheap, but the price goes crazy quickly for a not-so-much big setup.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had many jobs running in crontabs on AWS EC2 servers. So we moved most of them to Astronomer, also adding new workflows directly to it.
The good thing is that you have then a dedicated Kubernetes cluster for Astronomer, still under your organization.

Great experience
What do you like best about the product?
Detailed dash, great permission allocation.
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit hard to find the link to airflow. the link button is a bit small.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hosting airflow, user permission control
Astronomer made running Airflow easy
What do you like best about the product?
I can solely focus on my development without worrying about infra side issues. Before moving to Astronomer, most of my time spent searching about 'Task not getting queued', 'Zombie processes' 'Scheduler not running'... nad never got enough time for development. Astronomer made it super easy for me. That's why this is the third project I'm doing where I've recommended Astronomer to the client as a freelancer in their team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I never got anything bad up until now. Just also wanted have access to Airflow side CLI to execute certain commands which I sometimes need for stuff like bulk backfilling etc. And very recently had an issue with getting in touch with support with one of my query.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All the developers in the team only focus on development. We only had to spend time to setup CI/CD once and everything is sorted now. We never have to manually check if Airflow is up, scheduler and workers are running. Also local setup is extremely simple with just like 3 commands to spin up your personal Airflow instance locally. Save so much time.
Takes care of a lot of issues for us so we don't need to reinvent the wheel!
What do you like best about the product?
Our team already had some experience using Airflow but we had managed it completely ourselves. Wanting to avoid some of the pain points there, we were looking for a fully managed service. We found Airflow to solve our problems without us having to reinvent the wheel. We also found the onboarding process relatively smooth and Astro offered significant resources to get us started.
What do you dislike about the product?
We didn't find anything that we disliked
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main one is fully managed Airflow of course. Another thing we appreciate is access to the academy tutorials which allow others in the company to get up to speed.
Clean onboarding, management, and optimization of Airflow
What do you like best about the product?
Astro makes it easy to get up-and-running with Airflow. The management platform is intuitive and robust. The CLI provides a solid framework for building on the platform as a team. Solution/field engineers (namely Magda and Rocco) are also very helpful resources.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have found pricing to be somewhat opaque.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick onboarding to Airflow & OpenLineage, allowing for acceleration in our development of batch data pipelines.
Easy managed Data pipeline orchestration
What do you like best about the product?
organised deployments and resource utilisation visibility
What do you dislike about the product?
adding bulk users as one by one which is more time consume process
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data Pipeline orchestration made easily managed
Premium Apache airflow managed services
What do you like best about the product?
Great onboarding experience and superior product. New feature releases and consistent messaging about updates help to support the team. White glove experience to a complex open source product.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing major to identify and the team works to track our feature improvement requests as they are submitted.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping our team orchestrate our data pipelines that are critical to our customers. It helps us keep previously complex and cumbersome ETL processes in a simpler and easy to maintain system.
