A great way to store and access data
What do you like best about the product?
It is a database which help store millions of records and access them easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Adding muliple tables through joints sometime make it complex.

I use it to store client data and private information

Cost of operation and maintainance. Can get quite expensive

Great RDBS tool. Better than it's competitors. Shoud definitely give it a shot. Highly recommended!

Easy to learn, use and develop in delivering business applications.

Lack of marketing by IBM to promote the power systems.

We build custom licensing and permitting applications using free-form RPG running on an IBM i power server. Rock-solid security 2nd to none.

Best platform to run DB2 in on IBM power running i5/OS (AS/400) operating system.

What do you like best about the product?
DB2 Database is the best for enterprise wise with optimised performance as well as low cost.
What do you dislike about the product?
Till now what I found most is the DB2 Database Administrators are very less as compare to other DBs, besides I can say the support and the quality is very good of DB2 DB.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Enterprise wise best suit to business with low cost, low maintenance with improved transnational db queries to fulfil the business requirement on frequent basis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The excellent DB for compression to manage the huge DB size with in-memory feature with easy to install, configure, use with low cost and low administration , I highly recommend one to use DB in the landscape

Ease of administration and integration with other IBM products.
What do you dislike about the product?
None. It is solving our business requirements.

It is used as persistence store. It works as it should be.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is integrated tightly to IBM products and is one of the options to choose to use as persistence store.
DB2 on z/OS for SAP
What do you like best about the product?
We have over 75 SAP systems running on DB2 for z/OS. DB2 never crashes, the IBM tools for maintenance are acceptable, and scalability and availability are unmatched.
What do you dislike about the product?
My main dislike is there is not 3270 GUI emulator. You have to know how to navigate on a mainframe to support DB2 for z/OS, and that skill is hard to find these days.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need a database to run out ERP system. We already had onsite expertise and DB2 met all the requirements. The biggest benefits ante availability and scalability.

Just give it a try...specifically versus Oracle.

I particularly looking for good GUI tool to ease of managing the db2 database farm .
For example : OEM for Oracle .
I am versed with SQL server , Teradata and Oracle too. Hence i can particularly compare the tolls available for each of the database engine .
With that knowledge I suggest IBM to invest more to develop GUI tools.

My client hosts many of the mission critical application databases on db2 servers

I would highly recommend other to evaluate DB2 before making a decision for a new application database.
Best Database Management Software Bundle
What do you like best about the product?
It's highly reliable, scalable and provide for the best reliability that business currently need. Normalization capabilities are built in with makes it much easier to get the task on hand completed without having to spent time on normalizing data or fields.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice to have it enabled with multiple web tools to make it easier to manage.

It provides for configuring storage while improving efficiency and performance
