Cost analytics have driven MSP savings and commitment coverage grows across client accounts
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for DoiT is at an MSP level, focusing on cost reporting across multiple customer accounts. Second is anomaly detection, cost allocation by business unit or environment or product, and final would be commitment management such as savings plans or reserve instances.
I can give you an example around the commitment management and saving part relating to how I use DoiT. Our reserve instances and saving plans had commitment coverage gaps and some overcommitment risks present in the environment. We use the Flexsave model of DoiT to analyze historical utilization trends and automate commitment purchasing instead of focusing on manual forecasting processes. We also use it to compare versus commitment spend scenarios and reduce the risk of very long-term reserve instances if they are not required. As an outcome of all this activity, we increased our commitment coverage from 40% to 70%. We achieved approximately 15% of additional compute savings beyond just right-sizing.
What is most valuable?
In my opinion, the best features DoiT offers are the deep cost analytics feature, which is really powerful because it helps give a cost breakdown and cool-level visibility as compared to the other competitors. From a commitment optimization standpoint, it really helps us with effective discount rates. The MSP multi-tenant management is another feature; there is definitely a clean separation between different client environments. You also have the functionality of role-based access controls, and DoiT gives us structured client reporting across the environment.
I rely on the deep cost analysis and the multi-tenant management model the most in my day-to-day work because being an MSP, we manage multiple customers and work in a multi-tenant environment. DoiT provides a clear separation between different client environments. I also have a governance feature of control so we are able to restrict different users from accessing different environments they were not authorized to. The cost breakdown feature gives a detailed analysis of the environment.
DoiT has positively impacted my organization by improving overall client retention through savings, which has helped us move from reactive billing support to proactive optimization. It has helped us structure quarterly reports showcasing quantifiable impact and has really enabled our value-add FinOps advisory services. Since I started using DoiT, it has increased the commitment coverage. We are able to handle more accounts and have achieved 15 to 30% cost optimization opportunities across different areas.
What needs improvement?
I think DoiT can be improved because it is not as strong in Microsoft Azure as compared to AWS. Also, it feels a little bit complex for first-time users due to the interface. There are some advanced reporting functionalities available in the platform, but they require users to be properly trained to leverage that functionality.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using DoiT for about four years now.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others looking into using DoiT is to spend a good amount of time building up your tagging strategy. Make sure to align engineering early in the cycle. You can definitely start with optimization, and make sure to leverage the dashboards for recurrence. I would rate this product an 8.

I appreciate DoiT Cloud Intelligence for making cloud management transparent and manageable. Their support team and engineers consistently go the extra mile to simplify tasks for us. The cost anomalies alerts are a game-changer, proactively notifying us about unusual cost spikes. The insights feature enhances our efficiency by allowing us to optimize AWS costs weekly.
What do you dislike about the product?
no, I'm happy with the platform and the people behind it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DoiT Cloud Intelligence alerts us to cost anomalies and provides insights that help us optimize AWS efficiency, reducing costs and improving cloud transparency and manageability.
Really impressed us was their proactive approach
What do you like best about the product?
What really impressed us was their proactive approach. Rather than waiting for us to raise a flag, the DoiT team regularly checked in and shared suggestions to help us improve our setup and stay ahead of potential issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost anomaly detection is based on the raw GCP billing data, which has some delay on the data. It would be great for DoiT to develop own solution for the near real time cost anomaly detection.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Their platform has also been a valuable asset. It’s given us real-time visibility into cost trends and helped us quickly spot and act on cost anomalies—something that’s made a big difference in how we manage and optimise our cloud spend.
Their engineers are not only highly skilled but also incredibly responsive and supportive. Every time we've needed help, they’ve been right there—offering clear guidance and thoughtful solutions.
One console to rule them all.
What do you like best about the product?
DoiT enabled us to bring all our cloud expenses together under one roof. Their platform gave us the visibility and control that we needed to manage our cloud financials effectively. Leveraging their FinOps capabilities, we were able to consolidate our cloud costs and build a comprehensive toolkit to monitor and optimize our usage. Features like Flexsave and Spot Scaling made it easy to reduce costs without compromising performance, something critical for us and our workloads.
What do you dislike about the product?
What we dislike the most is the forecasting tool of the finops area of the console. They have a lack of accuracy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've significantly improved our governance model, reduced our overall cloud spend, and increased operational efficiency across our multi-cloud ecosystem.
A one-stop shop for all things cloud!
What do you like best about the product?
I was having issues with my GKE deployments, leveraging spot pods to save on hosting costs. I wanted to ensure that we had a specific number of spot pods per deployment but I was struggling with the config. I created a support ticket with DoiT and Alfred Tommy was amazingly accurate and insightful! He helped me understand the config that was provided and it helped me with my application. Very pleased with DoiT customer support!
I have multiple occasions where I need help from a specialist. I am the only Platform Engineer at my company, so sometimes I am unable to find the answer on my own, whether it be a requirement for getting a solution quickly, or there is a lack of documentation on a specific topic. Hence I use the tool quite regularly in this regard as the solutions provided by DoiT have always been the simplest and robust to implement.
Navigating the console is very easy to use as well.
Also, being able to easily integrate customer support to our infrastructure by adding read-only permissions to our cloud projects makes life so much easier.
The cost anomaly notification is also very useful for our organisation and it helps us track our spending.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I used to create support tickets on the console, my tickets would be assigned to a human. Whilst Ava, the GenAI assistant is very helpful and can provide very useful insight, I can get the same insight from the likes of Chat-GPT, Google Gemini and Claude.
So when I found out I wasn't being directed to a human anymore, I was quite upset. I was further disappointed when I found out that escalating a ticket (to what I assume was a human) would cost $750.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps me understand the breakdown of our hosting costs at a glance and where we can optimise. Any niche problems we can't solve with general documentation is very helpful for us.
That just make it easier
What do you like best about the product?
The access to knowledgable resources, focused customer support and billing portal.
What do you dislike about the product?
You have to get comfortable knowing DoiT is there to assist, but NOT "Do it" for you. You are still accountable for your environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Billing visibility and expertise on how to challenge our current architecture, drive optimization and evaluate other options. Their solution architects have seen it/done it in other environments. Its a great opportunity to learn from them.
They helped us through big decisions on our infraestructure.
What do you like best about the product?
Quick response plus really professional attention
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes they can't get really the issue because of internal aspects, not generic problems
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They solved some problems on reading replicas + data warehouses. that benefits us on which decision is best to make
The support and deal signing var mostly for GCP products
What do you like best about the product?
The dashboards are sometimes helpfull, reports, and annomalities emails
What do you dislike about the product?
Not real value on top of google
Expected more help on the budget analysis and proactive cost reduction
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
alerts and reports
DoiT provides free support for AWS and helps us save money
What do you like best about the product?
We were able to save about 15% on our AWS bill using FlexSave and it was really easy. We also have access to the DoiT account management and support team in addition to the support we get from Amazon.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's kinda confusing that we now have to use DoiT's console for AWS cost management and the AWS billing is no longer accurate. But once we got used to it it is no longer a big deal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DoiT helps us save money and better use AWS.
