Looks like GTD solution is for Sovos to make more money. For us, SUT was much better.
What do you like best about the product?
GTD is a cloud solution. No need to update manually every month. Rates are up to date.
What do you dislike about the product?
GTD pricing model is more expensive. They charge based on # of calls to Sovos without providing any backup for their claims.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Trying to get classify the Customers correctly and decide to bill them or not.
With Cloud solution, we don't have to update on premise solution every month. The rates are always up to date.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Check from all angle if it can satisfy your needs, by taking time. Don't be hurry. Be careful with their pricing model. They charge based on number of calls to Sovos, without providing any support on # of calls they claim.

After installation, we found that we needed 3rd party software to get right geo code

What do you like best about the product?
The only thing that I like about Sovos is that they send invoices to the government, if the solution is working.
What do you dislike about the product?
Professionalism, communication, speed, compliance, development, project management, etc.
Professionalism - deadlines are not kept, nobody takes accountability for problems
Communication - emails are not responded to, information communicated is clearly not understood
Speed - questions and errors are not addressed in a reasonable time-frame, constant reminders and escalations must occur in order for work to get done
Compliance - since go-live we've already been out-of-compliance with the mandates of the government for 2 instance an these issues have still not been corrected
Development - the development and coding of Sovos is very sloppy and not what would be expected for the price paid
Project Management - updates were not regularly sent, the project manager had no idea what was going on, budget usagage was not accurately communicated, overages were charged without our approval

Electronic invoicing which are sent to the government and approved via the Cloud.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Find another partner. Sovos does not show any care or regard for us as their customer. This communication is absolutely terrible. Anytime that you want anything fixed or changed then you will receive an SoW that is incredibly overpriced.

Communication is going to be the biggest obstacle with Sovos. They have the tools, they just need to implement a better/consistent way of communicating.
Quality Support
What do you like best about the product?
Received high quality support relating to expiring security certificates. They helped us at every step to ensure the new certificates were generated and installed properly. The risk of losing productive connectivity with Sovos Taxcloud had been mitigated. Marvin the engineer we worked with was highly engaged and eager to help us generate the certificates properly and retain connectivity in our development, quality assurance, and production environments. Marvin has always been a pleasure to work with..
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be helpful to receive notices of any disconnections or outages we experience in production. This would eliminate issues we have with miscalculating tax for some invoices. In some cases it was difficult to narrow down the root cause of some connectivity and slow performance issues. Tracing tools and early warning alerts would be great in assisting us with making sure tax calculations are always accurate.

The customer support is always there to help. Any issues they definitely help at the earliest. If there is no immediate solution they help to find a way to work around the issue and get the job done.

System lags or hangs some times during times of peak sales tax filing. Which is annoying if you are testing something or setting up exempt customers.

What do you like best about the product?
The import power and flexibility that the product delivers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Post filing import limitations. Would like to be able to import complex corrections into previously transmitted records.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are managing our large-scale 1099 reporting function with Taxport. The ease of its use, and the power and flexibility of importing and reporting, help us to successfully manage the 1.2M 1099 forms we file each year.

User friendly 1099 solution
What do you like best about the product?
The user-friendly features of the site are great. The ability to import multiple excel files to Sovos and have their system add up to totals for each TIN. We work in three different accounting systems, so this ability is crucial.
What do you dislike about the product?
The TIN matching seems less reliable than I'd prefer. I am registered with the IRS TIN matching program, so log in there is Sovos TIN matching isn't working. It's an extra step that I have to take, which I was looking forward to skipping when this program was first presented to me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Every year until 2018, when we signed up with Sovos, has been a nightmare in the way of 1099 processing. 2018 went smoothly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I wish I would've found this program years ago. Having a feature in NetSuite is nice, but this can really work with any system as long as you can pull that data into a spreadsheet.
