Centralized management simplifies data access and integration
What is our primary use case?
How has it helped my organization?
Cloudian HyperStore has significantly improved our organization by providing scalable, reliable, and cost-effective object storage for our growing volumes of unstructured data. It eliminated the scaling limitations of traditional storage, allowing us to expand seamlessly as our data needs increased. Its S3 compatibility has also enabled smoother integration with our existing tools and workflows. Overall, it has simplified data management, improved performance, and reduced total cost of ownership.
What is most valuable?
The best features Cloudian HyperStore offers include the native S3 API compatibility, which is pretty good, allowing us to scale out our architecture, and the built-in data protection, which is also pretty good.
Cloudian HyperStore positively impacts my organization by helping us centralize our data storage across our teams and simplify our infrastructure, meeting our growing demands on storage while maintaining performance and control, with the S3 compatibility aiding integration with our existing tools and workflows.
Centralizing our data storage makes access significantly easier.
What needs improvement?
At this time, I don't see any major areas where Cloudian HyperStore needs improvement. It has consistently met our expectations in terms of performance, scalability, and reliability. We haven’t encountered any challenges or frustrations with the platform. The user interface is intuitive, and the S3 compatibility works well with our existing tools. If anything, continued focus on UI enhancements and expanded third-party integrations could make an already strong product even better especially on the AI and S3 integration front.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Cloudian HyperStore as a storage engineer for about three years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before Cloudian HyperStore, I used a combination of traditional NAS and tape storage, and I switched to Cloudian for better scalability and lower costs.
How was the initial setup?
My experience with pricing, setup costs, and licensing was straightforward; we had an engineer help us out, so the customer service was great, and pricing is competitive with reasonable setup costs.
What about the implementation team?
In house with assistance from their team when we had questions.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a pretty good ROI with Cloudian HyperStore in terms of reduced storage management overhead, lower cost per terabyte, and improved productivity across teams.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Exceptional data protection enables robust security and seamless integration
What is our primary use case?
Our primary use case for Cloudian HyperStore is as a reliable, scalable solution for backup and long-term archive of unstructured data across our environment. We leverage it to store data from multiple sources, including file servers, applications, and departmental shares. Backups are run regularly to ensure data integrity and business continuity. While we haven’t had to perform any disaster recovery yet, knowing that Cloudian supports S3-compatible replication and versioning gives us confidence in its resilience and recoverability.
How has it helped my organization?
Cloudian HyperStore has significantly improved our organization by making our data storage more efficient, scalable, and overall cost-effective. We no longer have to worry about hitting capacity limits or dealing with really complex scale-up storage solutions. The S3 compatibility has also allowed us to easily streamline workflows and integrate with existing backup and archive tools. Overall, it’s reduced our infrastructure overhead and simplified how we manage large volumes of unstructured data.
What is most valuable?
The best features Cloudian HyperStore offers are easy integration with other backup providers such as Veeam, robust security, and excellent metrics functionality that works seamlessly.
What I appreciate about the security features in Cloudian HyperStore is that they have WORM (write once, read many), which is a good security feature for ensuring that nothing gets stolen or held hostage for ransomware.
Cloudian HyperStore has positively impacted my organization by saving us time, money, and making our processes easier.
What needs improvement?
One potential improvement would be offering an open-source or community edition of the product. This would allow teams to experiment, prototype, and integrate Cloudian into their environments without the upfront cost of a full, triple-replicated deployment. Looking ahead, incorporating AI-driven data tiering could significantly enhance value, enabling intelligent and policy-based movement of data across storage classes based on usage patterns and business needs. I know they have very robust S3 compatibility but making that information more transparent would be helpful, too.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Cloudian HyperStore for a couple of years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It seems very stable even when we upgrade our version.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Cloudian HyperStore is very scalable, and we haven't had any issues increasing capacity and adding nodes.

How was the initial setup?
Yes, it was straightforward and easy. Their support was available for any questions we had.
What about the implementation team?
In house with assistance from the Cloudian team.
What was our ROI?
When compared to cloud options, there are significant savings by an order of magnitude due to the ingress and egress fees we are foregoing.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is that pricing was pretty straightforward, costs were manageable compared to alternatives, and our support is licensed out as one would expect.
