  • September 14, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As a Project Manager at MITRE, I appreciate that Cloudian HyperStore scales easily as our data needs grow. We work with large research datasets, and being able to add capacity without disruption has been valuable. It also integrates well with our existing backup workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface for monitoring and reporting could be more intuitive. Sometimes it takes extra steps to find the details I need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We previously used a mix of NAS and cloud storage, which made managing research data complicated and expensive. Moving to HyperStore gave us a central platform with predictable costs and better control over sensitive data.

What do you like best about the product?
Cloudian HyperStore stands out for its native Amazon S3 API compatibility, which makes it effortless to integrate with existing cloud-native applications. What really makes it unique is its true hybrid deployment flexibility - whether on-prem, across private clouds, or public clouds like AWS, Azure, or GCP. No dbonus the HyperIQ monitoring tool is a bonus. It offers the most needed feature of real-time insights, user behavior analytics, and performance tracking through interactive dashboards. All these gives it a new dimension. Plus, their exabyte-scale capability future-proofs our infrastructure for AI and big data workloads.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface needs some touch ups technically. The advanced configurations may require more documentation or hands-on support.Whatever I must say the support team is knowledgeable and responsive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We deal with massive data growth from IoT and AI workloads. Cloudian helps us maintain high data availability and performance while reducing cloud storage costs through on-prem S3-compatible architecture. Its object-lock and encryption features also ensure our compliance and data protection standards are met.

Centralized management simplifies data access and integration

  • July 01, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for Cloudian HyperStore is managing and scaling unstructured data across our organization. We use it as an on-premise object storage platform to store a wide range of data types, including backups, archives, and media assets. Cloudian allows us to maintain data sovereignty and meet compliance requirements while offering S3 compatibility, which integrates well with our existing workflows and backup tools. Its scalability and cost-efficiency have made it a key part of our storage infrastructure.

How has it helped my organization?

Cloudian HyperStore has significantly improved our organization by providing scalable, reliable, and cost-effective object storage for our growing volumes of unstructured data. It eliminated the scaling limitations of traditional storage, allowing us to expand seamlessly as our data needs increased. Its S3 compatibility has also enabled smoother integration with our existing tools and workflows. Overall, it has simplified data management, improved performance, and reduced total cost of ownership.

What is most valuable?

The best features Cloudian HyperStore offers include the native S3 API compatibility, which is pretty good, allowing us to scale out our architecture, and the built-in data protection, which is also pretty good.

Cloudian HyperStore positively impacts my organization by helping us centralize our data storage across our teams and simplify our infrastructure, meeting our growing demands on storage while maintaining performance and control, with the S3 compatibility aiding integration with our existing tools and workflows.

Centralizing our data storage makes access significantly easier.

What needs improvement?

At this time, I don't see any major areas where Cloudian HyperStore needs improvement. It has consistently met our expectations in terms of performance, scalability, and reliability. We haven’t encountered any challenges or frustrations with the platform. The user interface is intuitive, and the S3 compatibility works well with our existing tools. If anything, continued focus on UI enhancements and expanded third-party integrations could make an already strong product even better especially on the AI and S3 integration front.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Cloudian HyperStore as a storage engineer for about three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In my experience, Cloudian HyperStore's reliability has been pretty good, with no downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Cloudian HyperStore's scalability has been awesome; it keeps up with our growing storage needs, with zero unplanned downtime and great replication between nodes.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for Cloudian HyperStore is responsive, and I've had a pretty good experience interacting with them; they are super knowledgeable and helpful. I would rate the customer support for Cloudian HyperStore a 10 out of 10 because they're great.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before Cloudian HyperStore, I used a combination of traditional NAS and tape storage, and I switched to Cloudian for better scalability and lower costs.

How was the initial setup?

My experience with pricing, setup costs, and licensing was straightforward; we had an engineer help us out, so the customer service was great, and pricing is competitive with reasonable setup costs.

What about the implementation team?

In house with assistance from their team when we had questions.

What was our ROI?

I have seen a pretty good ROI with Cloudian HyperStore in terms of reduced storage management overhead, lower cost per terabyte, and improved productivity across teams.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

They have a great team to assist in setup. The pricing was competitive. The longer licenses make more financial sense.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated other options before choosing Cloudian HyperStore, including a Dell option, Scality, and a few cloud-based solutions.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for others looking into using Cloudian HyperStore is that if you need really good scalability and API compatibility while wanting to keep control of your data, it's a good option.

I gave Cloudian HyperStore a rating of 10 out of 10 because the customer service has been great.

My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

I was not offered a gift card or incentive for this review.

This interview was well-rounded.

Exceptional data protection enables robust security and seamless integration

  • July 01, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for Cloudian HyperStore is as a reliable, scalable solution for backup and long-term archive of unstructured data across our environment. We leverage it to store data from multiple sources, including file servers, applications, and departmental shares. Backups are run regularly to ensure data integrity and business continuity. While we haven’t had to perform any disaster recovery yet, knowing that Cloudian supports S3-compatible replication and versioning gives us confidence in its resilience and recoverability.

How has it helped my organization?

Cloudian HyperStore has significantly improved our organization by making our data storage more efficient, scalable, and overall cost-effective. We no longer have to worry about hitting capacity limits or dealing with really complex scale-up storage solutions. The S3 compatibility has also allowed us to easily streamline workflows and integrate with existing backup and archive tools. Overall, it’s reduced our infrastructure overhead and simplified how we manage large volumes of unstructured data.

What is most valuable?

The best features Cloudian HyperStore offers are easy integration with other backup providers such as Veeam, robust security, and excellent metrics functionality that works seamlessly.

What I appreciate about the security features in Cloudian HyperStore is that they have WORM (write once, read many), which is a good security feature for ensuring that nothing gets stolen or held hostage for ransomware.

Cloudian HyperStore has positively impacted my organization by saving us time, money, and making our processes easier.

What needs improvement?

One potential improvement would be offering an open-source or community edition of the product. This would allow teams to experiment, prototype, and integrate Cloudian into their environments without the upfront cost of a full, triple-replicated deployment. Looking ahead, incorporating AI-driven data tiering could significantly enhance value, enabling intelligent and policy-based movement of data across storage classes based on usage patterns and business needs. I know they have very robust S3 compatibility but making that information more transparent would be helpful, too.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Cloudian HyperStore for a couple of years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It seems very stable even when we upgrade our version.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Cloudian HyperStore is very scalable, and we haven't had any issues increasing capacity and adding nodes.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for Cloudian HyperStore is great; there's always someone available when we need it.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used to use the cloud, and it became too expensive before switching to Cloudian HyperStore.

How was the initial setup?

Yes, it was straightforward and easy. Their support was available for any questions we had.

What about the implementation team?

In house with assistance from the Cloudian team.

What was our ROI?

When compared to cloud options, there are significant savings by an order of magnitude due to the ingress and egress fees we are foregoing.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is that pricing was pretty straightforward, costs were manageable compared to alternatives, and our support is licensed out as one would expect.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked into Scality and Minio briefly. Neither seemed to have the same level of S3 compatibility.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for others looking into using Cloudian HyperStore is to definitely get a quote to see if it makes sense for your environment because of the cost savings, ease of use, and integration.

I would rate Cloudian HyperStore a 10 out of 10 because it's just been a great product, easy to work with, and for the cost and what we're getting, there's not another product on the market similar to it.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Cloudian is a perfect platform for me to store and share all of my projects related documentation and materials. I really love how it can be collaborated in word, Excel and PowerPoint. Security feature of this storage makes it even more reliable with your confidential documents. A lot of space is saved on personal computer because it does not transfer any file to it. I just love the fact that all of my data is saved free of cost.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I face the problem with synchronization of shared files through mobile and desktop app and re synchronization is then is in order. Some features and options of the UI make it less intuitive. The file cannot be shared to the third party unless permitted by the owner of the document. The auto save option only works with the internet connectivity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find it really convenient that I can access my files on one drive even if not connected to the internet. The SSL encryption for security is great in keeping data safe. It has eliminated the need of large email attachments, or thumb drives. Cloudian can be collaborated with spread sheet aplicaion for creating better documents.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I am responsible for project report analysis in my company and that includes all the different departments. Luckily Cloudian is a wonderful tool that I use for sharing and organization of these reports. The large storage capacity helps me in keeping bulk amount of data without worrying. It is easy to access from different devices like laptops, tablets etc. which is very convenient for me to share and receive documents wherever I need. One of the best upgrade in Cloudian are the features of folder sharing and team building.
What do you dislike about the product?
Though I find Cloudian to be of great advantage the price tag is definitely gold. Customization is quite limited in this version and the support response is just terrible. Cloud synchronization also presents with problem sometimes. As an internet hosted application I find it performing slow with slow internet connection.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find its productivity to be of great benefit as we can easily edit any kind of document just according to your needs. Even the team members can edit and manipulate data which will be updated on the cloud storage accessible to all.
