A DevOps Engineer's Review of Akeyless Vault
What do you like best about the product?
In my experience, Akeyless Vault has been a game-changer for seamless integration with DevOps tools and ease of use. It connects directly with my team’s DevOps tool stack, which includes Terraform, Ansible, and CircleCI, which are critical to our daily operations. This makes it easy to automate secret management, allowing my team and me to focus on other essential tasks. And because it’s a SaaS solution, Akeyless is quick to deploy, requires minimal maintenance, and has dependable uptime.
What do you dislike about the product?
There’s really nothing that I truly “dislike,” but enhancing the available documentation would make it even easier for DevOps engineers like myself to fully leverage the tool and improve our overall experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Akeyless Vault has been instrumental in solving several critical pain points for my team. These include:
Automated secret injection and rotation. Akeyless Vault automates the process of injecting and rotating secrets, eliminating the need for manual secret management. This has significantly improved our security posture and freed up time for us to focus on other tasks.
Encrypted customer details. Working in the financial services industry, encryption and decryption of PII are essential. Akeyless Vault provides encryption-as-a-service, reducing the time and effort we previously spent on these tasks.
Cross-cloud provider support. Our startup operates across multiple cloud environments, which previously made managing secrets and implementing least privilege access challenging. Akeyless Vault's support for multiple cloud providers has simplified this process, ensuring a more consistent and secure approach to secret management.

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use. Very easy setup. Good customer support
What do you dislike about the product?
AWS SES keys rotation not supported.
Key rotation should be in 3 phase. Create new key (90days), Inactivate old key (95days), Delete old key (100days). this is helpful for consumer to have some time to update keys before actually breaking by creating new key and deleing old one at same time.
Documentation should include contianer setup like ECS, fargate etc.

What do you like best about the product?
Intuitive interface once you get acquainted to it. Has a lot of functionality product is very well thought out

Little bit of a learning curve getting it setup and the basic concepts

Static Credential Storage, Key Rotation, Secret Storage for a variety of applications

What do you like best about the product?
Extremely supportive and very engaging team. Taking a detailed approach towards understanding the most important need of the customer
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing that we as an organization dislike with Akeyless. There are always one or two gaps in the platform with any product
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are only doing a Proof Of Concept now but this is to select an enterprise secret management platform
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Since we have not adopted it yet, it is very hard to answer this. But so far the support that we have received from Akeyless team members is truly remarkable.
Easy to use SaaS Platform
What do you like best about the product?
Being new to Secrets Management. Akeyless support was able to help mw get up and running in no time. Using the CLI SDK I was able to quickly migrate all of our existing secrets into Akeyless.
What do you dislike about the product?
Syslog parsing could use a little work. Some of the key value pairs don't always parse cleanly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Akeyless as a central secret management solution for our hybrid cloud environment.

What do you like best about the product?
Excellent documentation and support is extremely knowledgeable and quick to respond to questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing at this moment. A little leg work to get going once installed and set up but that is expected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing ssh keys for multiple users. Using SAML authentication this saves a bunch of time.
Single Pane of Glass for all your secrets used in different CICD Tools)
What do you like best about the product?
Akeyless has multiple integrations available with most of the Industry leading CICD tools(Jenkins, CircleCI,Azure DevOps). We can manage secrets easily for different tenants using different CICD tools and Configuration.
Not even CICD, we can store creds for all public, private and on-premise environments which makes it more efficient and Reusable.

What do you dislike about the product?
The Documentation part could be a little better apart from that I don't see any issue. Comparing it with Hashicorp vault its easy to get started with and use as it supports command-line control as well as a graphical user interface
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Akeyless Vault for storing all our Secrets required in different CICD tools , K8s cluster related secrets and all secure variables required in different public,private and on-prem environment.
The reusable part make it more fruitful and attractive and its lot easier to manage use and get started with as compared to Hashicorp vault.

Documentation is sometime outdated, and need to setup own gateways so not fully SaaS

What do you like best about the product?
The User interface is quite simple and its scope of storing different sort of secrets along with the Distributed Key Fragments for encryption keys storage.
Customer support is far better then multiple vendors that we worked with during the evaluation phase

The complexity of one time setup for the gateways and Access roles, bit difficult to understand for a newbie but once get use to it, all looks easy

Centralizing Secrets Management tool for all our teams, collaborative access for same secret, on time dynamic secret with TTL and rotated secrets for all our service accounts.
